You do nice work 😊🤙

Thanks, @pgrVII, so nice of you to say 🤗  I really enjoy all your posts on Instagram - your tank pics, your bearded dragon, and your music!

It makes me feel so much better when I know there are people with two reef tanks in their living room like me.

They look great!

everything stores perfectly under the sink in a small tupper wear box so it's unseen and even slides over to the corner of my cabinet when I'm not using it.

LOL this is exactly how mine is set up....

@banasophia - everything looks great as always. Ever thought about setting up a Seahorse tank? Think you would do great!

Thanks so much! They’re small, but definitely have a presence. ☺️ Do you have a pic showing your two tanks in the living room?

Thank you! I was actually considering doing a seahorse tank, but I’ve been given a two tank limit due to the time demands of additional tanks, so I haven’t really pursued it...

Well I may be completely biased, but great job picking the best nano tank out there... very happy with the Biocube myself! 🤗😘 Just found your journal and excited to follow along!!

Hiii! I've being completely overrun by hydroids and wondering how well your sea hare handled those. Did it totally eradicate them? How much hydroids were there to start with? I can't figure out my exact species but were the ones Wally (I think that was his name?? 😛) ate similar to these?

Hi, @lizzyann! Yes, those do look like the type I had in my Biocube that the sea hare ate... it would eat most of them, but not all of them... you always have to be sure to rehome sea hares before they starve, so I would rehome it and then the hydroids would come back in about a month and I would get another sea hare. As someone in here had advised, they did eventually disappear on their own... it happened at around 10 months.

Wow, I just realized I haven’t posted in here in quite a while. Things are going well with the Biocube, not so great with the Nuvo.

The Nuvo has been getting some crazy black algae, cyano, and diatoms as the temp has gone up with the summer heat... ordered an inkbird and a clip on fan, just waiting for the fan to arrive. Also dealing with tons of vermetid snails that are growing all over the rock and one of my acans. Definitely need to devote more love and attention to the Nuvo.

Here are a couple recent pics:

Those are some happy suns 😍

Thanks! Yes, sometimes a bit too happy... they release larvae from time to time and they are spreading throughout the tank... good thing they are such a pretty coral. ☀️☀️☀️

So the sun corals are making more babies...

It would be awesome if you'd make a special interest thread somewhere (coral forum?  auaculture forum?) dedicated to your spawning sun corals.

It's something most folks never see at all, let alone in person.  🙂

The info is well-placed here to be sure, but is also sorta lost in the breadth of the conversation when it really ought to be featured!

IME sun corals have always been impossible to keep...they just never come out (enough) to feed...even in spite of pre-feeding, bomb feeding and even hand feeding when polyps do actually come out.  Could have been our source I guess, but results were about the same with black or red-orange types of sun coral.  I never could figure it...the only coral that never prospered IME....feeding or not (never with much apparent gusto) they always withered away.  So this is great to see!  🙂

Thanks, that’s a nice idea! I’ll plan to do that sometime soon. ☀️☀️☀️

Poison Dart Frog

This BioCube is just stunning. There are some amazing tanks on here but this one may be *the* most impressive. One thing I come away with is that gorgonians are under-rated. They add so much to the overall look.

And this is achieved with the stock light. So maybe it's best to focus on the critters instead of the technology.

Thank you so much, that’s very nice of you to say! 😊

I agree about gorgonians... I’d say the two things I recommend the most to people asking for stocking ideas are (photosynthetic) gorgonians and rock flower anemones... both are pretty easy to keep and can have a big impact on the look of a tank.

The stock LED lights in the Biocube 16 & 32 may not be strong, but they have some great features with the programmability, ramp up/ramp down, and three light phases which each accentuate different livestock. The fact that the lights aren’t as strong and growth isn’t as fast has allowed me to successfully stock some of the beautiful corals that can become very invasive in other systems. Also, I find that my Biocube photographs much better than my other tank, and I think that’s mainly due to the lighting.

I definitely enjoyed figuring out the strengths of the system and then stocking it accordingly. 🤗

Check this out, friends! The Biocube is featured in this quarter’s issue of Reef Hobbyist Magazine! I was so surprised and honored to have this opportunity... it’s something I will always remember. 💛🤗

You can pick up a (free!) copy of the current issue at many LFSs, or find it on the Reef Hobbyist Magazine website, to see my write up and the other articles in this and past issues.

Also wanted to share these pics from feeding time the night before last... it’s basically a food blizzard in the tank every night due to my mandarin and all the hungry NPS mouths to feed. 😬🤗

Haha right... they do have a Christmassy look with the food blizzard! 🎄🐠🎄🐠🎄 And there are even candy canes haha!

The front candy cane often feeds like that, but the green one in the back doesn’t. Maybe just cuz the front one’s so close to all the food going to the suns...
