AWillroth
Grabbed this guy today. Seen hundreds in my time running LFS salt section and this is the first I've seen with a split dorsal. Mutation? Weird recovery from injury? Hybrid with S. xanthorhinica? Anyone seen anything like this before? 1 Quote Link to comment
RayWhisperer
A friend of mine had one with a split, or dual dorsal ray. Never did get a close look at it. I just figured it was a mutation, similar to a misbar clown. Don’t really know, though. I remember reading something about a possible natural hybrid of the two. I think it was a reefbuilders article some years back. I’ll dig around. Quote Link to comment
RayWhisperer
Not quite what I remembered it, but this is the article. https://reefbuilders.com/2014/01/02/stonogobiops-family-photo-nematodes-xanthorhinica-hybrid-pictured/ Quote Link to comment
1.0reef
Probably a genetic thing or it grew an extra after an injury. Neat specimen Quote Link to comment
