Aurortpa
So I got two pieces of dragon’s breath from one of my LFS. I have a tuxedo urchin so I opted to strategically place them. One is on an seawed clip up against my gyre, the other in my makeshift microfuge. The urchin is like “What is this magic, preventing my insatiable munching of he flame tip macros?!” 3 Quote Link to comment

In my case, I had my Saron Shrimp munch on my entire stock of peltata and chaeto when he wandered into my fuge box and was trapped there for a week. I now have a few strands of Galaxaura, but I've been thinking of ways to have them in my display without both my urchin and shrimp eating them. 2 Quote Link to comment
Aurortpa
@Snow_Phoenix, shrimp eat macro algae? I have never heard of a saron shrimp, do you still have it? I am particularly interested in inverts. Quote Link to comment

Considered not-quite-reef-safe, probably for this reason. Quote Link to comment
Aurortpa
Awww I looked them up @Snow_Phoenix, so pretty! Yet I have my hands full with my bulldozer tuxedo lol. Seems both the clipped macro by the gyre and the microfuge have kept him at bay for the moment—fingers crossed. 1 Quote Link to comment
Aurortpa
So upgraded my microfuge, saw this at my local LFS—it’s supposed to be a fish quarantine box by Rio. Same diamater as the coke bottle I was using but with significantly better flow entry with the slots! I already see little pods settling in on the empty shells and rock pieces I threw in there. Again, I don’t expect this will create a significant impact on my system overall bit still kewl! 1 Quote Link to comment
Lorekeeper
I like it! Won't that grow algae, though? I'm looking for a similar solution, since I've got an emerald crab in my 10 gallon that seems to enjoy certain macros... Quote Link to comment

No other weird algae issues in there as of yet, I do see pods have taken refuge in the rubble I got in there. 1 Quote Link to comment
Lorekeeper
I meant like on the container. Algae doesn't grow on the plastic/glass? Hm. Interesting! Quote Link to comment

Well my tank finally rebalanced so I am actually facing another extreme, algae shortage for grazers. The water flows steady around the microfuge so haven’t had to clean it once yet. Macros still growing altho the one right by gyre exponentially...because of vast flow I assume. 1 Quote Link to comment
