The IM pumps are notoriously loud. I’d recommend upgrading it to a Sicce for your sanity! Especially if the tank is going to be in a bedroom.

If you go to Marine Depot's website they literally have upgrades and accessories broken down by tank. Just click on the Nuvo 10 and it will show all accessories and upgrades that are compatible with the Nuvo 10

I'm not trying to say that I have "the best" set up and upgrades by any means. But in my Aquarium Journal you see every part that I have put on mine. It's pretty well stocked in the parts dept. LOL

Media Basket upgrade for sure being the first thing you should buy. But like @Lula_Mae said ^, sooo many threads on this as well as youtube videos. See what everyone else has done and figure out what works best for what you're looking to do.

The IM pump in my 10g was sad. Not only loud but barely any water movement

 

I upgraded to the mj600 and I use no powerhead.

 

I also got the IM media basket which works great and well priced.

 

That's all I did besides a light.
