Mushroom Polyp Removal

I've an old colony of mushroom polyps, just a plain redish kind, nothing fancy, that have been spreading to undesirable places; other rocks, near other corals, on the back of the tank.  Can anyone suggest a way to remedy these unwanted shrooms?  I really don't want to have to remove and chisel rock, and I obviously can't take that approach to the tank wall.  I've thought about approaching them like aiptasia.  Maybe some Aiptasia-X or kalk paste?

I did it once on a mushroom. I cut it off with a razor blade and then applied aip x to any remaining flesh.

 

It did not grow back, so I guess it worked
