dawz2
I just can't catch a break with fish! Every time I add a "reef safe" fish to my system they demonstrate abnormal coral destruction!!! I added a tail spot blenny to my 28G JBJ a month ago. Feed algae wafers everyday. He has plenty to eat! WHY IS HE PICKING ON MY BLEEDING APPLE SCOLYMIA?!?! I first noticed my scoly looking stressed on Tuesday (5/22). I caught the blenny on camera biting (eating something off the surface?) later that day. I covered the scoly with the top of a 2 liter bottle that night. The scoly returned to its normal beauty under the bottle. Removed the bottle Thursday (5/24) evening. This morning (5/25) the scoly looks pissed and the blenny is hovering around and picking on it. What the actual frick?!?! Normal Scoly: Pissed off Scoly: Quote Link to comment
Tamberav
Not that abnormal, combtooth blennies are known at times to pick at corals. These guys are more like reef-safe with caution. I know a lot of websites say reef-safe and LFS will tell you its safe but if you dig into the forums of people who actually own these fish, there are pickers among the bunch.... just like angelfish. Some behave, some don't. Angelfish pick along the rock and may develop a taste for corals or particular corals, combtooths are algae eaters and sometimes (more-so in absence of algae), they may discover your scoly is tastey in their little picking adventure 😛 Nice looking scoly's btw! 1 1 Quote Link to comment

I looked everywhere and didn’t see anything like that about these little SOB’s! I came home and chased the little punk around the tank. He was crapping fluorescent orange turds the whole time!! He went back to the LFS. 32 minutes ago, Tamberav said: Nice looking scoly's btw! Thank you! Hope she pulls through! Quote Link to comment
