The only downside about the lights I'm getting is that I have to wait a while because the seller is breaking down his whole tank and he is only half way done selling livestock (it's been 4 months...). Oh man that sucks ☹️ well soon enough though Quote Link to comment

Joevember
Aquashella was a fun time for me. I ended up only going on saturday, mostly because I blasted through my money I had but also the fact that I would have to bike an hour to get there. I met a lot of vendors, said hello to Than from Tidal Gardens and Coralfish12g, and picked up a few corals. The event was fun, but it was mostly aimed at parents and their kids (I can't blame them though because they are the ones spending the most there). For my first frag swap, I did enjoy it. I picked up 3 corals during the event. First was a purple torch. I am working on expanding my torch island atm and a purple spices it up. I only saw one vendor selling purple torches, probably from the import ban. The most expensive torch was a $450 black yellow tipped torch that looked amazing. Second was just a standard green tipped hammer. Trying to complete the holy euphyllia trinity. Third is an anthelia that I was told was a red sea pulsing xenia. I'm not that mad about it though, it was a $10 frag and it sways around. Other than that I moved 3 corals off their bases and glued them down. Also bubble algae has been introduced into my tank somehow. Not worried about it. 4 Quote Link to comment
Joevember
First death of the tank...💀 Lost the short tentacle tonga gold torch to brown jelly. Looked bad the past couple days and came home to brown sludge. Smelled like death when I took it out, almost threw up. I always think "Holy shit, this is the worst thing I have ever smelled!", but the reef-keeping hobby keeps on surprising me. 2 Quote Link to comment

Joevember
My cleaner shrimp released her larvae that were immediately demolished by the fish in the tank... I didn't expect anything else, but sad for Mrs. Clean. Couldn't get a pictue or video that showed them, they looked like big copepods. 1 Quote Link to comment

DSFIRSTSLTWATER
Here's mine. I have to get a good one with it out. It's still getting used to the new home but you can see the mix if you look closely. Quote Link to comment

Joevember
I've always has the little asterina stars in my tank and I always throw them out because some species can eat coral. I have never seen any of these near any coral bases or any possible tissue damage from the stars. I know some also eat coralline algae, but again, I'm not seeing any loss there. So I've decided to leave them in, for now at least, and see if anything changes. Some spexies are actually good cuc members, albeit a little bit ugly. They seem pretty chill. 2 Quote Link to comment

Joevember
Little elegance update: It has been looking much better lately. The tentacles are extending, and it is sticky again. The brown spots are greening back out. The only change I made was feeding every other day. I give jumbo mysis and LPS pellets and it has been loving it. 1 Quote Link to comment
Joevember
Some more updates: I found a nuvo 20 with 2 intanks for $140 and a radion xr15w gen 3 pro for $250 with rms (or gen 4 pro for $100 more). I'll probably go for the gen 3 so I can use the extra money for a reeflink, and also buy an mp10. So pretty soon I'll get all the equipment together and downsize. I'm pretty excited about the tank, I've been planning this out for a while now. Second thing is my elegance, which has been continuing to open back up to a full recovery. There is a small part on it where the tentacles are still retracted, but other than that it is been doing well. Feeding often has done the trick. Another thing is that a head from my first duncan frag got hit with a torch sweeper. It closed up a bit, but the other heads are still fine. The anthelia is spreading like a weed, not so sure I want this in my tank amymore. It has sent out 3 full polyps that I took out and has also grown onto a piece of sand. Look at the tiny polyp to the right of the colony. Last thing is the hitchhiking shrooms. They have grown, but not much. I've tried feeding them half of a pellet, but the nassarius snails are faster than their feeding response... Here's a FTS for reading the update 😁 2 Quote Link to comment

Joevember
Just picked up the new corals. I'm not 100% on the names; the guy I bought from didn't know. Anyway I think this one's a trachy And this looks like a lobo colony I'm going to put pics of them on the ID thread to see if I can get any names on them. Quote Link to comment

Joevember
The light is amazing! Holy crap, ecotech knows what they are doing. I put it up on the other side of my tank and moved my other light over, and the asymmetry is killing me 😖 Also, the trachy looks like sh*t rn. I didn't know much about them when I bought it, and now it is coming back to haunt me. The skeleton is showing all along the edge. Guess I know why it was only $20... Quote Link to comment
