Open brain coral has black spot!

Recommended Posts

So I did a water change yesterday and siphoned our the sand a little. I did my best to make sure sand wasn’t covering any of the coral but missed a spot on the open brain. My cleaner shrimp was on an area of the coral and I saw some sand on the coral so I moved the sand and found a black spot. Did I just ruin my open brain?

tried my best to get a pic but the blue lights can be tricky.

Probably a crab of some sort. My last maze brain coral developed a hole like that. Turned out to be a weird crab thing. I forget what they're called.

I think I only have like one crab left. You think it’s that one?

Should I be concerned about it? Is there even a method to get rid of them?

It's a super hard call imo. Some people live with it and some people go all out trying to get rid of it... and getting rid of it is 50/50 (you might kill the crab or you might end up killing both the crab & the coral).
