Can I use store bought iodine?

I’ve had a colony of Green Bay zoanthids and they have gotten to grow so large on their disk they started to grow under each other, I wanted to cut them off of the frag plug and put them on a rock. How would I go about getting them off, it’s not as sympol as the gsp just cut and you are good. I wanted to use the iodine to prevent disease or infection.

Zoanthids are tricky for sure. I'd just take the disc and glue that to the rock. They should eventually completely cover the disc and you won't see it at all. And yes, you can use drug store iodine as long as it doesn't have anything else in it
