ajkochev
I've owned reef tanks of various sizes on and off for 20 year. I can never seem to get rid of red algea in my tanks. Current tank is: 0.5 Gal pico cube self made filter box and 50gph powerhead. Some soft coral, Cleaner Shrimp. 1 Snail, 3 Blue Leg Hermits. NO FISH. Running Chem Pure Blue and Purigen changed monthly Weekly 1 1/2 to 2 cup water change. Distilled water from supermarket and using Oceanic Salt. I don't feed the tank other than give a small piece of frozen shrimp to the shrimp OR a couple of fish food flakes. I do this daily is that to much? Quote Link to comment
JBM
https://www.reefcleaners.org/nuisance-algae-id-guide its a helpful guide. Should get you on the right path, and yes. You are most definitely feeding to much. Go every other day. And bump up your water changes. With such small volume 100% water change is rather easy Quote Link to comment
