I deleted this video few weeks ago, but decided to recover it to show you guys, how tinny male Clown deals with aggression coming from “Jaws” the angry female.

After spending too much time inside the Torch, he shows signs of skin burns that take few weeks to heal. Once he feels better, he gets at it again.  Brave little fellow.

New in tank.

A short vid of the tank/fish, except Circus Gobie (who hides between rocks most of the time)

During monthly maintenance, I had to say goodbye to my older MP10. (I don’t think I’ll be ordering $60+ wet-side that almost f****up my tank).

That’s what it looked like inside:

The s*#t I found inside was unbelievable. 😡🤬

Weekend update:

•MP10 pump is out.

•Another KPS pump or 2 is coming.

•All Emerald/Hermit/Halloween moved to Q tank.

•Increased coral feeding with addition of Reef-Roids and OceanMagik live Pythoplankton.

•Also dosing a bit of Seachem Ions & Vibrance.

•Alk dropped to 9.5. (Will try to keep it between 9-10. Seems like a good compromise)

•Added handful of Trochus snails and removed 2 giant Turbos (constantly knocking down smaller frags).

•Light adjustment seems to work fine (presently maxing out at %45. I also lowered the fixtures from 16” to 12” above water surface).

•Trying to figure out the best placement for Elegance coral and Yumas (both aren’t crazy about strong flow.)

Clam seems OK. She moves around a little. Not sure if she’s happy yet. (I will take more pics soon. Super hard to capture true color).

•Sea Grape Fuge is working wonderfully. Producing huge amount of macro-algae and pods.

Next:

Probably detail inspection of other equipment.

Cleaning back compartments.

Still can’t find a reason to invest in nano-skimmer. But I am thinking of converting the other side of the back-compartments to another macro-fuge. 😳

Brought some new frags from fellow reefer. Eventho his setup was top notch with amazing collection of corals, I still dip. This time it was a 3 part process as I wasn’t able to remove frags of the flat, small, river rocks they were mounted on (I actually like them better than frag plugs. They are also PH neutral). Frags were pissed as hell but seem to be doing fine. All show good PA already. More details coming soon. There is also a new equipment on the way that I will report on soon.

A quick update:

• water test - Alk9.0, Ca460, Mg1400

• Elegance coral grew a new head, so did most of Euphyllias. Wild Acro starts getting its color back after light acclimation.

• Having a little issues with my Clam (posted in Clam forum)

• Testing Tunze skimmer in Q-tank. Too early to say.

• Got a new toy to make my testing easier (magnetic stirrer)

Snails working hard in back compartments

Update June 16:

•Clam didn’t make it. Fed it to crabs in the Q-tank.

•9004 skimmer is a bit loud. Not sure why? Don’t like it.

•Picking up Garf colony next week if it’s still available.

•Making bets on what’s going to kick the bucket next. (It’s between Elegance & Coco)

Heading to Reefapalooza tomorrow. Will take some pics if I find anything interesting.

Rearranged few things in my IM30L and not %100 happy with the outcome.

Also got more frags that I will cover next week.

Tunze skimmer is running in a Quarantine tank. And it has already flooded it once. Till I figure it out, it will remain there.

I’ll be busy rearranging my electrical nest later today after work. Found some interesting power bar/led light at HomeDepot.

There are many uses. From micro sophisticated alcoholism to witchcraft.

I use it exclusively for water testing. 😉

Moved few things around. Basic idea was to move all euphyllias in one general area to provide safe space for current and future acros, gorgs etc. Caps have been moved to right side of the tank (green/purple/red). Middle section is now a safe, open space for various SPS frags.

There is maybe a handful of corals I still want to add before giving it a pause and time to grow out.

Below are the newest pics of the tank, new utility power bar with super handy led lights, and mother colony of Holy Grail Torch from which I’ll be getting a freshly cut frag on Monday. As a side note, HG Torch is just a fancy name for Indonesian “gold” torch. They are easily distinguished from their Ausie cousin by longer and thinner tentacles. IMHO HGT looks better.

Not planning on any spontaneous purchases tomorrow at Reefapalooza but I could use a nice frag rack.

If there is one thing I have had unabashed success with it woudl be frogspawn.  I could probably kill the $600 colony in a day though 🙂

Got 7 SPS frags from local hobbyist for a grand total of $100. Now I have a dilemma ..... how to spend  $500 I just saved by ignoring “holy grail” of ridiculous?

I never look back at things I’ve killed in the past. I’m that kind of a mischievous killer. 😉

Came back from Reefapalooza.

Unfortunately, I didn’t take any pics that were worthy or interesting.

It was my 1st RAP. It felt like a trip to Costco. Tiered vendors, enthusiastic and desperate salesmen from upcoming companies and visitors trying to make this trip worthwhile by snatching some random leftover frags. It took me 2 hrs to find what I needed and get few things that made it worth my time. Cobalt guys were very nice and we spend some time talking about their line of AIO tanks that I really dig. Got an external pump that I kinda need for sucking out detritus and WC. As a manufacturer, they aren’t allowed to make any sells but fortunately he (should remain nameless) had one of these pumps without original box in his backpack. 😉

AB23FCFE-46F5-438D-891F-FAB2EE9DD993.thumb.jpeg.7d177b8db3212b25e9419f594c7e5b9a.jpeg

Obviously I was on the lookout for frag rack and found Mr.Reefs who sold me one of their smaller racks. Those must be popular as I grabbed the last one.

3786CA1A-377C-4227-B501-B1ED4BFCD7FD.thumb.jpeg.a1a1aac4f0002cbcc39bf4e909b03844.jpeg

Quality from Elos and RedSea is always impressive. I have noticed a smaller AIO tank from RedSea. Had no clue they had that in their lineup. Couldn't afford Elos peninsula setup but I did grab one of their KH test kits. 🤣

Neptun KH testing/dosing unit caught my attention but quality wasn’t impressive. I guess, it is the software where it really shines. 🙄

I was however impressed with GHL auto KH tester/doser package. Almost bought too (I still might).

Plenty coral vendors with so, so prices.

WWC and Jason Fox seemed to generate decent crowds. Getting frags wasn’t on my list but I felt silly coming back home empty handed so I got few sponges, gorg, red goni, bubble gum and one frag from WWC that looks totally disappointing under my light. I feel tricked. 🤣 (I’ll take pics later as everything is pissed at the moment except sponges of course.)

Ekoral testing/monitoring gadgets were interesting but I didn’t hang around long enough to get more details. Might be worth looking into. Triton station had some pricey but interesting sump designs that support their product. They also seemed to support third party algae reactors which name escapes me at the moment. It was quick in and out affair. 👍

Added 2 more Aqamai pumps (total of 3) and ordered IM Hydrofill ATO.

Did not get HG Torch this week (gonna pass on that. Guy is asking crazy $ now). And Reefapalooza was an expensive trip. 🤫

New frags are doing great. Good growth on older frags. Increased the light over several weeks to %70.

Tunze skimmer is still breaking-in in Q tank. Skims a little better (dark tea) and a little quieter than on day 1.

Problem with nutrients is resolved. Reduced feeding to just once per day.

Skunk shimp quadrupled in size. Molts almost every week. Sexy shrimp is fine as well. RFA stopped walking around so I am hoping it stays that way.

WWC frags:

Decided to try Tunze in 30L. I’ll keep breaking it in till the end of the week and try to give you my initial impression.

RFA disappeared for a while behind rocks and after several days appeared in the same spot in the middle of the tank. Seems like it was a synchronized effort.

Could use some advice tho.

I’m a little concerned regarding Platygyra sweepers, its sting power and reach. There are several corals within 3-5 inch distance. Should I be concerned?
