That’s what I kept saying to myself.

It paid off. With a bit of frustration and few hundred crappy pictures later, I am sold.

You should try it. I’m not much help as a novice but I can share what I’ve learned (not much). 🤣😂🤣

I’ll see if I can manage to pull it out first...... then we’ll go from there.  😂

How how big is it? If it’s one of these......, maybe you shouldn’t bother. 🤣

Personal Kessil 360X settings

(might tweak it a bit down the road. Especially, intensity, ramp up/down, red/violet. Timeline is a bit off).

You are amazing with a camera 😲. I wish I could do that lol. My wife has a $400 Nikon or something and she never uses the ####ing thing. I'm about to take it and learn how to take pics. I actually have some good shots of my tree frogs on it. I think I've used it more than her.

If I can take decent pics with budget camera/lens, anyone can.

There are few challenges and some learning curve necessary to master the basics but so does making omelet.

At the end it could be fun and rewarding. Do it.

What's your opinion on the 360x?

Coral looks great, btw.

Macro lens get you really close and it will highlight details that human eye isn’t capable of seeing.

There are other inexpensive add-on items that could be useful. Inexpensive screw on filter(s) or macro extension tubes/rings. (I’ll report on those when they come in next week or so).

Thanks and I really do like new Kessil light. Aside from the features and low profile that everyone can get familiar with from online sources the most obvious change is light output angle (super wide) and color rendition.

In my opinion, visual representation of color rendition/spectrum/contrast is vastly improved over previous generation of Kessils. Not sure how to describe it........ crispness? clarity?

Contrast of corals seems to get a hafty boost. It gives you a bit of a wow factor. Not in ridiculous way but certainly noticeable. I have to be honest and confess that I haven’t play around with acclimation, thunderstorms or other modes.  I am simply not into that crap.

I set it up and let it glow. Sure I have made few agjustments here and there but that’s mostly due to getting the balance right between 360X and my two A160 Kessils and getting most eye pleasing display. After all, I want my tank to look at its best aside from coral health and their needs.

I have watched BRS review and I have to disagree with them on Kessil silent operation. It’s quiet but not silent. But I guess that will depend on ambiance noise in your own room.

A little busy but I’ll give you a scoop. Bunch of broken corals and a mess in one of back filtration chambers.

Quick Neptun update. All installed and setup for basic operation.

Dosing back chambers isn’t a good idea in my opinion. So dosing tubes are installed right above the AI Nero pump for a quick mix.

Pics of an install, dosing junky install, Q-tank aka junk tank and FTS.

If you have custom white balance options, you can see what might work best for that blue overcast that leds produce.

To save you some initial frustrations, few tips: adjust your lights for more neutral/daylight spectrum (I don’t do it but I do use manual mode and custom WB settings to combat that issue + some post-production correction), turn off your pumps and work on steady hand or even better, use a tripod.

Hands inside the tank = breaking s¥it up.

Even worst, doing so while sleep depraved and agitated.

Several SPS pieces damaged. One frag didn’t make it. Not sure if moving it in and out of the tank or something else caused it to RTN.

One of the Cocoworms kicked the bucket. No idea why and I really don’t care other than it FUp my water quality.

Nothing major but still. Did %10 WC today in both tanks. Way overdue. It has been months from the last WC. Might have to do another WC on Monday. Also testing auto water change feature by Neptun DOS AWC. Dosing 2 part with DOS seems to work great. No issues so far, as far as accuracy is concerned.

Another FUp happened last week when I realized something was off. Went through usual suspects and found seven layers of filter floss inside intake chamber! WTF and how did that happened? Seems that I just kept on stocking them up but not removing old one(s)!! It created a nicely saturated cesspool ....... adding to already shaky water quality.

Misery loves company and when s@&t hits the fan, mishaps just avalanched one after another. Thankfully, system is stable enough and able to withstand certain level of douchebaggery. Anything less would probably caused a major havoc, including probable fatalities.

Fish are doing fine, snails multiplying like rabbits, shrimps are also fine.

Tuning in the system in preparation for upcoming vacation in few weeks. Ordered some cheap auto feeder and floating feeder XL ring.

Probably forgetting something but this update will have to suffice for now.

Enjoying another 3 day weekend.

Happy NEW YEAR!!!

Thanks. Apparently, this tank can take some negligence on my part. What it can’t take is my hands in the tank for some stupid reason.

Floss are those thick sheets that I cut to size and replace weekly or as needed. Obviously this strictly enforced schedule needs some modification.🤣

How did you end up with 7 layers ? Were you thinking about cake or something........not even sure how that much floss can fit back there ? Had a IM30L and loved the tank.

It takes skills and drive to get this reckless. Don’t know what to tell you.... I couldn’t believe my eyes but there it was. Water was still able to run thru it so there was definitely room for more.😉

Your tank is gorgeous! We just started our first Biocube 16 about 7 weeks ago and I love this tank. If all goes well I’m looking forward to getting an innovative marine 30L for our living room (The Biocube is in our son’s bedroom)!

Thank you. IM30L is a nice nano-size tank. You'll definitely have fun with it. My daughter is into biology and chemistry yet, she couldn't care less about getting involved in the hobby. Getting deeper into chemistry components of it, bacterial imbalance or symbiotic relations,  she gets a bit interested. But when asked to take care of dosing 2part, she's like "yeah I think I get it but....."

I let my filter floss go until it damn near clogs often. One way to ensure you don’t end up with an ultra-low nutrient system, 😂

🤔, hmm, maybe why some acros are brown 😅

I ran ULN tank with limited light output for first 2-4 months in order to avoid nastiness of “the new tank syndrome”. I didn’t run into any issues so I guess it worked (along other measures taken with that goal in mind).

Trust me, I like the idea of nutrients rich environment in my tank and I do aim at that direction but, tipping the scale to point of “WTF is going on!!!” makes you wonder if your system is stable enough to sustain few punches below the belt.

And it wasn’t just one Fup that caused this mini-panic. It was a number of things that caused this chain like reaction in direction we all try to avoid at all cost.  And if you have bunch of brown acros well, be happy. At least they aren’t bleached out skeletons and have potential to surprise you a bit when they color up.  How is the tank doing? I know you had some issues not long ago.

For a little while there, it just seemed to show no sign of anything. But I think it’s finally on the rebound, and I’ll be happy if it’s continuing this direction the next wk or two. My fav frag that had lost all PE for weeks just started to have some peeking back out today. Pretty much just extra water changes this past wk.

That’s good news. Hopefully less drama in upcoming new year. Make it an amazing comeback story. 👍

Hey quick question on your nero 5. What is your max gph % you are using throughout your schedule? I am still playing with mine and just curious what youre set at.

Average between 1000-1900gph.

Usually between 30-50% during peak light output. Less during ramp up and down. About %10 constant during night.

I do run detritus GTFO of my tank mode for 15min. to stir things up a bit. That’s as intense as I dare to go without blowing off flash of my LPS/softies.

Longest mode during daytime.
