Seashore reef tank, possible or not ?

Hi guys, i'm new to the forum and currently planning on to make my own reef tank. I'm wondering if it is possible or not to make a shallow reef with seashore-like built in ?

Can anyone gives me some advices about this idea ? Been looking at some of the others ideas. Some said there will be a low-tide smell, some said salt creep will drive this tank salinity crazy.

I'm hoping that there is a way to evade those cons of this setup.
P/s: Sorry, I couldn't find any better quality image to show what I'm thinking on except this one from an old forum post. :(

Any helps would be grateful. :D  Thank you

If I were trying to replicate or make a tank with that sort of affect I would use a drop-off tank. Then you could have a shallow macro-algae area and a deeper area with corals and such, as in the picture. I wouldn't try to make the  substrate as sloped as to have a shore like in the picture, but just manipulate the dimensions of the tank.
