Timbo227
My Steve's LED cooling fan is too loud (50-60 dB with all other equipment turned off). Does anyone know of a "how to" for replacing the fan with a quieter PC fan? Also, my stock lighting did not require a fan for the temperature to stay under 80 degrees, does Steve's LED run hotter than the stock PC bulbs? If not, does anyone know how to just turn off the power to the cooling fans? I am about ready to go back to the stock lighting if I can't resolved this. Thanks! Quote Link to comment

I have to admit mine is very loud as well. I'm not prepared to take it out but I can say my light has run for months without the fan until I setup one of the new default settings and now it runs all the time during the day. What is the new default setting? Never heard of it. If I can figure how to turn off just the fan, and temperatures stay in check, I'm a happy camper. Quote Link to comment

HarryPotter
You don’t want to run LEDs without the fan. They’ll overheat and lose lifetime very quickly. Depending on the heat sink and what you’re running them at, fthey can be ruined in hours or weeks. Quote Link to comment

Anyone know if I have to use Steve's stock fan, or if I can get a quiet PC fan and put it in? Quote Link to comment
Horerczy
Steve's uses that wierd fan that blows through square tubing right? If you could rig up a fan to blow air directly down the tubes it might work. Hard to say without pictures of the setup. 1 Quote Link to comment
Larry Mann
I just purchased the Steves Led BioCube lighting last week, the lighting and controller are working great but the fan is just too loud (high pitch). Anyone come up with a replacement fan yet? It's so noisy, I feel like we are outside of the airport. I already reached out to the supplier and am waiting to hear back. Quote Link to comment

Yuusaku
@StevesLEDs any idea how we can improve the noise level? Quote Link to comment
NanoReefer1975
Just installed the bio cube 16 upgrade and I hate it already and the lights have not even come on yet!!! The fans are extremely noisy!!! Don’t buy this!!! Save your money. Remove the hood completely or leave it stock. Quote Link to comment
