Fungia Eating a mushroom coral???

Recommended Posts

So I came home and my fungia has a random red mushroom in its mouth. Will this hurt my fungia? Or should I just let nature take its course?

Thats crazy. where did that mushroom come from? Unless the fungia inflated and moved itself with the current, I dont see how it would have touched the mushroom.

And the mushroom should have been attached to something.

Having said that...if it likes it, it'll eat it, if not it'll spit it out.

Id let it see what happens but yeah fungias have super sticky tentacles so they grab whatever...mine even tries to eat strands of chaeto that find their way in the display but after a few hours chewing on them, it finally lets go.

Keep us updated.

I have a bunch of red mushrooms and every once in a while one will float around the tank and find a new spot to attach too. It was crazy to watch it swallow the whole mushroom.
