Whats on my snails shell 😶???

My snail has hair algae growing on him which I am working on getting off but he/she also has a reddish purple growth on the shell with what looks to be a hair strand coming out of it. .......... any ideas what this could be????

Does it kind of spiral? Maybe a vermetid snail?

Definitely a vermetid snail. Won't hurt your other snail, but they reproduce pretty quickly and can make a mess of a tank. I'd recommend removing it.

Yeah I looked up vermetids and it looks just like them. What’s the best way to get it off? I tried pulling it off yesterday with my hand but it felt glued on

I had a vermitid on a snail.  I glued it up.  You can also crush the vermitids shell and scrap it out.  If you just get the vermitids shell it will grow back.
