SelectedByNature
Just got my first Wellsophyllia/ Brain coral which I acclimated Tuesday. Any tips for these guys? Is feeding mandatory, suggested or not required? It seems to be steadily shrinking in diameter since I got it. Too much flow? Perhaps it's slowly adjusting. I attempted to feed it this morning as I stayed up last night after lights out to see if it would put out feeders/sweepers but nothing happened. This morning I was able to get a decent feeding response from it and it successfully swallowed 1 single Mysis into one of it's 5 mouths. 1 Quote Link to comment
Dreichler
As far as care. Low to medium lighting is good for them and low flow. Too much flow is indicated if their tissue is really moving a lot. Their tissue should just move with the water slightly, it shouldn’t be getting blown around at all. As far as feeding. Have you looked into the PolypLab Polyp Booster? You squirt some in before feeding, and it activates the corals feeding response, then you feed. It actually works quite well from my experience. Also, they don’t REQUIRE to be fed. They will absolutely benefit from being fed, but they will live without it. I would say don’t target feed it more than 3 times per week at most. I have a beautiful trachyphyllia that I feed Reef Rouds to 2-3 times a week along with all my other corals 2 Quote Link to comment

I'll try to feed it once of twice a week and see how it goes I guess. You think the shrinking is normal and it's just adjusting? Quote Link to comment

It’s normal. 1 1 Quote Link to comment

Are the mouths closed? Or is it just slightly shrunk up like it’s a little irritated? In the picture it looks good to me Quote Link to comment
