Mazzy21
Hi - hoping someone is around... I have a tube of GE 100% silicone. Currently mid-fill on my new EVO 13.5. Want to plug that dumb hole in the back wall. The silicone has no mildew stuff or germicide, ect, BUT it does say that it emits toxins while curing (methane and ammonia). I'm thinking this is a normal part of silicone curing and I don't need to worry if I plug it now before the tank is full on going (though it won't be cured yet obviously) but I want to make sure. Does the "aquarium safe" silicone emit these things when it is curing as well? Is this a normal part of silicone curing and it's fine to do it now? Or should I get aquarium-specific silicone since I will be curing it WHILE inhabitants are in the tank? Quote Link to comment
