Mike P
Just picked up a sand sifting starfish for my evo 12 recommended by my LFS, any thoughts on having one, will I regret getting it? Quote Link to comment
connorp
Return it. It will starve within a few months. Most don't even do well in 100+ gallon tanks, they really need DSBs. 1 Quote Link to comment
1967type1
I had one in a old 40 breeder with a 3” sand bed and did fine until i broke down the tank and sold it but a 12 is way to small. Quote Link to comment
Mike P
Yeah I’m going to take it back, I guess they just wanted to sell me something and I should have looked it up before agreeing. I even asked if it was okay in my size tank and was originally looking to get a conch but they sold out and suggested the starfish Quote Link to comment
BustytheSnowMaam
If you want a star, try a brittle star. They're easy to target feed and live forever (also fun for the shock value when people see this spider/octopus critter in the tank :D). The only downside is they tend to hide during the day. I wouldn't recommend other types of starfish because they end up starving to death. Quote Link to comment
squamptonbc
I had a brittle star in a 10 gallon, lived a long time, is still living but in a larger tank at a friends house... I had a sand sifting star for 4 or 5 years in a 40 gallon, but I would never put one in a 12 gallon. Quote Link to comment
