Sand sifting starfish

Yeah I’m going to take it back, I guess they just wanted to sell me something and I should have looked it up before agreeing. I even asked if it was okay in my size tank and was originally looking to get a conch but they sold out and suggested the starfish

If  you want a star, try a brittle star.  They're easy to target feed and live forever (also fun for the shock value when people see this spider/octopus critter in the tank :D).  The only downside is they tend to hide during the day.  I wouldn't recommend other types of starfish because they end up starving to death.

I had a brittle star in a 10 gallon, lived a long time, is still living but in a larger tank at a friends house...

I had a sand sifting star for 4 or 5 years in a 40 gallon, but I would never put one in a 12 gallon.
