Chandler1998
Hi guys this is my first post. I have a 35L nano reef and I am having an issue with a layer of film on the surface of my water. I have plenty of surface agitation from my wave maker. I think I need to restrict the water flowing into the all in one filter so it only skims the surface of the water. Is there an easy way to do this? Thanks in advance for your advice:) Quote Link to comment
chaostactics
You can with a small bead of silicone that you can later cut away with a razor. But it sounds like you have an underlying problem. How old is the tank? Did you rinse the sand before use? Where did you get your sand? Quote Link to comment
Chandler1998
The tank is 6 months old, and I got the caribsea fiji pink. I wouldn’t be able to drain the tank for the silicone to set. I recently swapped my media from carbon to phosphate remover could this also be a cause? Quote Link to comment
Oldsalt01
I've been plagued by scumming on and off in my 14g. I finally figured out it seems to happen only when I feed a certain type of granule to my fish, so I'm wondering if it's nothing more than fish oil in the food. I don't run a skimmer and have sufficient surface agitation. It doesn't seem to affect the tank. Quote Link to comment
Chandler1998
I feed frozen food mixed with RO water every other day. Sometimes I feed a small amount of flake food on the odd day. Could the flake food be the problem? Quote Link to comment
