Yumarattler
I have a frag that came on a purple sponge that the guy said never grew or anything in his tank. Now that it is in my tank the sponge is sending arms out and I am not sure if that is good or bad? Is it bad to have in the display tank? thanks seth Quote Link to comment
flatlandreefer
Sponge growth in general is a good thing and can be a sign of a healthy tank. I can't see the sponge in question very well from your picture, but even if I could I don't think I would be of much help... Quote Link to comment
Yumarattler
You can see the arms coming off of it under the Kenya tree Quote Link to comment
dandelion
I don’t think they are aggressive so you should be fine. Quote Link to comment
Rene
Simply keep an eye on it and see how the rest of your tank inhabitants react. It's as hard to generalize about sponges as it is about any other large group, like mammals . Some sponges are highly toxic and can kill tankmates if disturbed. Some will overgrown other things in the tank. Most that come in as hitchhikers can be enjoyed as harmless and interesting filter feeders that won't require any extra care. Quote Link to comment
