ChristopherDido
Hey all. So I came in to work this morning where I have a Classroom tank and my Rock Flower had moved and was behind a rock like this? I tried turning it over and it did the same thing a few minutes later. Is it dying? What should I do? Water Params I can't check for another hour when I get a break. Please Help. TIA Update: I moved the RFA, thinking it was maybe just not happy where it was and could not reattach itself because of current. Turned off all pumps for 20 minutes and moved it to another area and it is still not looking happy and it detached itself again. Any other ideas? Quote Link to comment
Clown79
Anemones move and it will continue moving until it's happy. Trying to move it and force it can cause damage. It's unhappy either due to too little light, too much light, or water parameters. What's your water source? What's maintenance on the tank like? How long has the tank been set up? How often is testing done? What's lighting is used? Is salinity properly maintained with daily top up? 1 Quote Link to comment
burtbollinger
i'd flip him over, and pick out a good place for him on the border of where the sand and one of your base rocks meet....reduce flow and he should attach. (i might even give him a gentle press) +1 on what Clown79 says above too. 1 Quote Link to comment

Thanks for the Response, sorry I am doing this while I don't have students. It's in my classroom tank. I was not trying to move the RFA, it was upside down when I came in this morning in the back of tank :-( The Water source is RO/DI from an LFS here, haven't had any issues with their RO/DI water yet. Maintenance is done weekly, about 12% water change done, we clean filters, turkey baste the rocks. Tank has only been established a few months now. Testing is done about every other day, Parameters currently: Temp: 78.5 Salinity: 1.025 - Top offed with ATO from Tunze pH: 7.8 - 8.0 Nitrate : 5.0 Alk: 10 Phosphate: Undetectable Ammonia: 0 Nitrite: 0 Calcium: 440 We have a Marineland LED Reef Light with Built in Timer. I am thinking currently, 1 of two issues - Let me know if you think I am right. 1. Not powerful enough lights 2. Tank has only been up a few months. I am leaving off the Koralia for the night hoping that he will reattach. I put him here about 2.5 Hours ago, but he is still not looking happy. Quote Link to comment
burtbollinger
it could be the light is adequate and everything is fine...and he just decided to move somewhere else....good bet that if he settles down and re-attaches, you've got no worries. i found mine in a similar predicament...re-situated and he's fine now. 2 Quote Link to comment
