They should be fine out of the water for awhile (like up to 10 or 15 minutes). Just don't let them dry up. The real issue is how they seem to be attached two or three of them are nestled up to the rock but actually attached to the glass button of the jar... I'm afraid if i move the rock I might damage them somehow... Not sure what my plan is yet, still piecing it together. Quote Link to comment
seabass
If they are actually attached to the glass, you should be able to remove the rock without problems. Sometimes the underside of the oral disc will attach to the rock. If that's the case, slowly and gently rotate the rock until it releases. The foot should hold tighter than the disc. Be careful and you should be fine. 1 Quote Link to comment
ChristopherDido
Alright big update here... My Reef Club Students did not want me to take the sexy shrimp back to the LFS, so they convinced me to take them home when I broke down the classroom tank, you can check my sig to see that tank. So I needed to make room for them and to be able to better clean the sand and all that so I had this 2 gallon Deep Blue 8X8X8 cube that I thought would be perfect, it's the same size tank that I gave to the teacher across the hall as a gift. With the "upgrade" I ditched the air pump in favor of an Eheim 300 Compact Pump (40-80 gph) that I picked up for $5 (actually picked up 2 of them for that price.) This pump is definitely overkill, but once I added a 90 degree elbow and opened up the output hole it settled down and stopped violently blowing around the rainbow cloves. I also went with a smaller heater (size-wise, it's actually more powerful) that I had originally planned to use, 10watt Aqueon. I have the heater on at the moment about 15 minutes every two hours and it's holding the tank very stable 79-80 degrees. While I am sad that the Terrarium is no longer running, I am very pleased with the ease of maintenance that I will be able to do on the tank. I still have to add a top, and I have an idea for that, hopefully will have that set up today. Without further ado, here are some pics of our little updated pico, I think it looks great, let me know what you think. To start here's how the terrarium looked above, I was afraid that my RFAs would be stuck to the bottom of the glass, they were not. They were all attached to the one rock, which surprised me and frightened me a bit and I forgot to burn the Hydroids with Fire, I'll do that probably in about two weeks, want to give everything some time to settle in. Here's the new tank with sand and water as it was heating up to get ready for the new inhabitants (used about a pound of Live Sand) Two Pics of the Eheim Pump for those thinking of doing this Here are our Sexy Shrimp Awaiting their new Home! I thought everything would have cleared up by the time that both tanks reached the same temp, that however was not the case, but it was fairly clear so I went ahead and did the transfer, everything went well thankfully. Pic from last night after everything was fully clear (you can see one of the Sexy's chilling on the rock above the colorful RFA.) And Finally a little gif animation of a full view of our Pico living room reef! 5 Quote Link to comment
