So i sold everything and said the hell with this hobby, but as all reefers know i caught the itch not even a year later. started looking around on nano reef, reef2reef and eventually found a deal i couldnt pass up even though i kept telling myself i wouldnt.... new tank goal: try not to blow all my money on corals and equipment.... at least thats what i tell myself. In reality i just want to keep a thriving reef tank that will surpass my old tank. equipment list deep blue 80 rimless 4 bulb dimmable ati w/ attached reef brite XHO 4 bulb ati with nanobox retro vertex omega 130 skimmer vertex 180i diy cheato reactor kessil h380 lit refugium jebao 4000 return pump mp40 and mp10 150 watt heater neptune apex dosing kalk to keep parameters in check but will eventually install a calcium reactor current stock list i may add 1 or 2 more smaller fish but that wont be till later on blue tang yellow tang yellow eye kole tang lightning maroon clown gold nugget maroon clown sunburst anthias blue star leopard wrasse corals tank will be a prominently sps tank with some lps at the moment Tank as of July 1 2017 Mid August September a month of diatoms and bacteria October 1 2017 post Hurricane Irma everything survived dont mind the mess in the sump. ill eventually get to cleaning those cables 2 Quote Link to comment

d_adler Posted November 4, 2017 Author Share Posted November 4, 2017 November update... tank is going through its ups and downs.. slight cyano outbreak but ill get it under control. most importantly colors are darkening and all acros are showing signs of growth. i cant complain. ive spent less time taking care/tinkering with this tank than any of my previous. The tissue just fell off but all my other acros look to be doing ok. Today my frag pack from Adam at battle corals came in. It dumped 10 gallons of r.o/kalk in the tank but luckily I didn’t lose and corals i have a few updates on some equipment from Black Friday sales that I’ll be adding next week. d_adler Posted December 11, 2017 Author Share Posted December 11, 2017 As a birthday present to myself I went to a local guy and picked up a frag of wd, pink Cadillac, and asd milli. After patiently waiting my ati nanobox retro came in. I can’t say enough how much the wait was worth it. This light is a beast! as for the tank everything seems to be growing and coloring up well. I’ll be adding my calcium reactor soon but as of now my kalk is keeping everything stable. My next project will be some proper cable management. The sump is a disaster 2 Quote Link to comment

d_adler Posted February 25, 2018 Author Share Posted February 25, 2018 QUICK UPDATE: the tank went through a rough patch. i couldn't figure out why i was losing so many corals until i did a icp test that showed crazy high tin and elevated aluminum. after losing multiple sps and others slowly stning i tore my sump apart and found a rusty screw. multiple water changes later, dosing detox, cuprisorb, and running a polyfilter i think i lowered the levels of metals. the only real equipment changes ive made is i removed a 8 year old mp10 and added a icecap gyre 3k thinking that was what initially causing the metal issues. new corals ived added og tyree tierra del fuego uc strawberry shortcake rd sabertooth rd domination wwc grafted cap wwc berry blast Quote Link to comment
