mandelbloom
How much live sand per gallon of water is recomended for a nano reef? My Nano Cube will be in tommrow. I have a 20lb bag of sand ready to go, but I am not sure how much of it to use. Link to comment
ReeferJones
1-1.5lbs/gal seems to be the going rate Link to comment
mandelbloom
Ok thanks, in the articles section it said 1/2 lbs per gallon which seemed a little low to me. I think it may just be a typo. Link to comment
EtOH_is_good
substrate layer is much different than lr. substrate is all about the depth. personally, i would go for a very thin layer and no more than 2 inches. at a certain depth, it'll become a deep sea bed, which can have positive or negative effects depending on who you ask. Changisbad
I have a nano cube and only have about 5 lbs in there. Just enough to lightly cover it. I put my live rock in there first (on the bare bottom) and then put the sand around it. It gets well sifted and stirred by all the critters. Link to comment
holyherbiness
I used a 20 lb bag of sand on my ten gallon, and the depth is only like 1.5 inches or so. Link to comment
