saixiong
Have a 5 gallon tank with some soft and lps corals,a hermit crab and a turbo snail. Thinking of picking up some sexy shrimp. They recommend having a few of them. How many should I get? And will they harm my corals, hermit or snail? Quote Link to comment
OldManSea
I have found in my tank that sexy shrimp eat zoa polyps from time to time, Montipora polyps and recently possibly nibbled my goniopra. Others have reported similar. I have found they do very well with rock flower and minimaxi anemones. I have also not seen them causing damage to my ricordeas or acans. They have done well snails and hermit crabs. 1 Quote Link to comment
Cannedfish
I have also had issues with sexy shrimp picking at corals. I don't mind them bothering the zoas (which need some control), however, when they began to pick at the rainbow monti, things began to get real. With that said, I have been mitigating this behavior (to an extent) by target feeding them in the morning and at night when I feed the dendros. At this point, they have begun to become trained, and will run over to the baster with their grabby hands waving, which in itself is kind of funny. Weirdly, they only pick at the rainbow monti, and leave the superman, jedi mind trick, and blue polyp cap alone. Quote Link to comment

TN09
My shrimp always stayed by the torch or frogspawn and it bothered it enough to affect the polyp extension. Had to give him away Quote Link to comment
thespinningsadhu
I read to have odd numbers. there was no reason behind it, though. I have four - had five but one disappeared -and they stay on my maxi minis almost all the time. they will get on the “stalks”of the torch and duncans and tuck up next to the flowy bits. they do seem to nibble on my zoas but they’ve not suffered because of it. Mark1313
5 coming this week. Small tank. Yep research, yep a lot of horror stories, yep a lot of success stories, yep odd numbers, yep I have a small tank and they will be my little sweethearts. This link may help. I summed it up for myself and my personal situation want/needs that target feeding is a big clue. Don't have the time, tank to large, seems like a pain? Maybe not the best idea with corals that you want to keep. It seems like a Personal Decision. I think @Cannedfish and @thespinningsadhu gave good info. Sorry I don't have any today so I can't swear by anything, but I believe if they are cared for like an only child, may be fine. I guess I'll see soon. 2 Quote Link to comment
