ecrabid05
I've had my tank up and running for a little over a month now and I've noticed these tiny starfish looking things that will move around my tank. I have live rock in my tank and have had problems with aiptasia in the past. I have two frostbite clowns and two peppermint shrimp in my tank. I'm just curious what they are, if they're dangerous for my tank and how I could possibly get rid of them if they are. I apologize for the poor picture quality. This guy was on the surface when I was doing my water change so I was able to get to him. Quote Link to comment
Lingwendil
Asterina stars. Perfectly harmless 99.99999% of the time. Some complain that they eat corals, and I have never found a verified account of this, nor experienced it myself, home or at the LFS I used to run. Quote Link to comment
Mark1313
Pic is fine. Asterina Starfish. Some will tell you pests, some will say remove immediately cause they will multiply rapidly. Some will say beneficial to a new growing tank. In my limited experience, I had 2 when I set up the tank. I have 3 asterina now after running 2 months. Not a great example, I don't mind them, they don't hurt me. Basically research them and make your own opinion due to how your tank and yourself excepts them. I kinda like em Quote Link to comment
samnaz
Harmless. For me anyway, I've had em in my tank since the beginning without an issue. Quote Link to comment
PieMan2k
My dad's tank has atleast 100 in his sump or in the prefilter. Harmless critters in my personal experience. I have seen my dad's 6 line wrasse eat the ittle buggers so additional beneficial food source. Quote Link to comment
