I just setup a fusion 10g and it looks like it's a great budget light for zoas and lps, and maybe even some sps high up. So far its working well and I am pleased with it. Cant comment too much on growth yet as the tank is so new and settling in. Everything has been happy and opening up everyday though. I wrote a small review on the light if you want to check it out. Im going to try and update it as time goes on. Quote Link to comment
VaporCountry
Had a local reefer come by the house today to check out the Asta20 LED light I have. He is into photography and plans on setting up a dedicated tank plumbed into his system to take pictures. He wanted to see how the light did with his camera. Here are a few quick pictures he took of my frags while we were chatting 3 Quote Link to comment
CrazyEyes
Those are some nice shots, and some good looking pieces. I definitely think I'm going to give this light a shot and see how it works. 1 Quote Link to comment
Lula_Mae
Do you have a link to the light on Amazon? I looked for it but couldn't find it. 1 Quote Link to comment

VaporCountry
So I bought some zoas and had them shipped next day to me. I thought I would share my process when adding new frags to my system. I highly recommend this with any new frags to reduce the chance of pests and stress on the coral. 1. Float the bags for about 20 mins 2. Empty the frags and water into a container 3. Drip acclimate for about an hour or until I have a mix of about 50% of my tank water to 50% of the water it was shipped with 4. Place the frags in a container of just my tank water 5. Use my tank water and Coral RX pro to dip the corals for 10 mins. While In the coral rx solution I take a small pipette and gently blow water at the frags and around the plugs. 6. Rinse the frags in a container of fresh tank water for about 5 min and do the same process with the pipette I use pretty much the same process for fish but do a longer drip and do not dip. Here is my sixline drip acclimating when I got him last month This can use quite a bit of water depending on how many frags so you wanna make sure you have some saltwater mixed to replace with what you used. With nanos it does not take too much to effect the salinity So far this process has been successful for me. Do any of you guys use a similar process? Any tips on suggestions? I always like to hear others thoughts and what works for them. I'll take a couple pics later after everything opens up fully Quote Link to comment

VaporCountry
Not a whole lot new to report. Got a couple acro frags in a trade so I rearranged things a bit. I wanted the frag rack to be more centered under the light. I removed the corner rack and mounted most the LPS to flat discs. I also switched out the tray with matrix to a longer one. The matrix I had in the back media basket was reducing flow quite a bit so I took it out and rinsed it during water change then put it in the display tray. So far the Sps has been responding well to the light, so time will tell. Some pictures, a few zoos are pissed off from a dip the other day 1 Quote Link to comment
CrazyEyes
Glad to hear the corals are doing well under the light, I might pickup a cheap sps test frag and see how it goes. Quote Link to comment

Yea I think they are going to do just fine. I got them friday and they seam really happy. The one acro frag I got is just a little tiny nub so I can actually count the polyps on it. When I got it, it had 5 and now has 8 lol What settings are you running your light on? Im pretty much settled in now with both blues at 100%, multicolor channel at 40% and white 0% Also let me know if you end up ordering that random flow nozzle and how it works out, Im still trying to figure out what I wanna do lol Quote Link to comment
CrazyEyes
That's way too blue for me lol, I run the whites at like 50%, multi color at 20% then the royals at 20% and the cool blues at 10%. I'll be ordering the nozzle today so I'll let you know it works, hopefully I can avoid a powerhead. 1 Quote Link to comment

Im really trying to figure out this flow thing and that one looks nice. If these Sps continue to do well with this light I'm thinking about maybe picking up a Jabao pp-4. Then upgrading the return to a sicce 0.5 with that nozzle you are going to try. Would love to get a MP10 but its not really in my budget Quote Link to comment
CrazyEyes
I've got the tunze 1073.08 which puts out 210gph vs the 185gph that the 0.5 does, plus it's a little cheaper, plus I love tunze products. I've had mp10s in the past and they are nice, idk if they're $240 nice though. And no I've got the wider lense on mine, I put the narrower one on and couldn't get past the Disco effect it was giving. 1 Quote Link to comment
CrazyEyes
Don't wanna add too many pics of mine in your thread, but just wanted to share a pic of mine with the same light, nowhere near this blue in person, overall like the light though. 2 Quote Link to comment

Hahaha I don't mind. Glad you like the light, I don't think there is a better option out for the price. Its nice to see another bare bottom nano, you don't see them too often......do you have a build thread? Yea you do kinda get the disco effect with the optics on, not color separation just can kinda see the beams of light. I just figured I would get the most PAR out of the light using them. The LPS I have on the bottom edges are happy and growing. Now I kinda have a SPS itch. Probably going to get some more frags this week Quote Link to comment
CrazyEyes
I need to start a build thread soon. I need more coral in this thing. Still deciding on what I want. I'm thinking about chalice and acans primary and some sps up top. Quote Link to comment
Angry-Monkey
I've got the lense on and had the lights at 100% blues, 40% colors and 20% white. One of my acans about 3" from the sandbed stopped opening up so I think it may be a bit too much too soon. Going to bring it back down to 70/20/10 I think. Quote Link to comment

Yea LPS I would have to say is my favorite coral I mainly got so many zoas from the start because they are so easy to frag and are sought after. I don't sell often, I like to trade, its a great way to meet fellow hobbyists. Quote Link to comment

Are they on the edge of the tank or towards the middle? Maybe they just have to adjust. I started the lights low and raised them over a couple weeks. I do think the lense defiantly makes a big difference. How many hours do you run them? I am doing like 9 1/12 hours, then the moonlights for a few hours. Quote Link to comment
Angry-Monkey
Maybe halfway between the edge and middle. Unfortunately I've already glued them because they seemed pretty happy there. I just got too eager with ramping up the lights I think. Currently doing 8 hours. 1 Quote Link to comment
CrazyEyes
This Saturday will be 7 weeks, been doing weekly dosings of microbe-lift bacteria. I'm going to be taking some water to the lfs this weekend to have all the water tested, or just buy some test kits for myself. I really need to get an ato because I'm quite sick of filling it up with freshwater everyday. 1 Quote Link to comment
