Me too! I almost didn't go to the meet, but this Yuma was the main reason I decided to buck up and make it down there lol.

Yeah it was a pretty cool presentation, I actually learned a lot and I have bred clownfish before!

 

I had people bringing frags for me ahead of time, so I didn't even look to see what else was for sale. I didn't want to tempt myself.

Yeah, I told myself I would wait to see what I got for free at the July meeting before I bought anything from the vendors that set up there. Well that plan went out the window with in about two seconds of looking in one of the frag tanks! Hah. No self control.

Hahah that is why I only bring so much cash with me. My wife and I have worked out a "hobby" allowance, so I can only spend so much per week without her booting me out.

Thank you! I got it for a steal too, I was supposed to buy a 1/4" frag for $80, and he lost it before I got there. I got this frag for that same price, and its easily 1 1/2" lol.

?  Damn!  Cheapest I can find is $250ish and those are auctions.  That was one awesome find for sure.

Ouch that is pretty steep. I can see if my guy has another frag available, at least it would be cheaper since he was charging $150 for a 1" frag. I doubt mine will be able to be fragged for a while.

Good to know I'm not the only one with an allowance for my hobby.  You're taught not to rush things in this hobby.  It's not a problem when you know what the next 2-3 week's purchases will be.

Hahah yeah, it is a pain in the butt. I always feel like I need to sell something to make big purchases happen, because my weekly goes quick.

 

 

I am pretty excited, as they announced pricing and a timeframe for the Icecap 2k gyre pump, which seems like it is going to be perfect for my tank. I seriously can't wait to get my hands on one!

That is pretty cool how you can run the new gyre with one side,but I think they still need a TRUE nano gyre. I think they would make a killing.

Yeah, but I think toned down it should still be fine with both sides attached. I'm likely going to buy it and test it out regardless, I really want a gyre for this tank.

 

 

I also forgot to mention that my good friend Sammy, and his fiance Alejandra, moved in with my wife and I for the time being! I was trying to help them with a GoFundMe to get them out of Puerto Rico, as they both owned their own businesses and have been unable to really do anything since Hurricane Maria hit. The journey has been very bittersweet for them so far, and they still have a lot to figure out before they are back on their feet, but we are happy that they have finally moved onto the mainland and have access to so much more to reach their potentials for their businesses.

 

 

He was able to bring his older Nikon with him, which may be a bit dated, but has a nice macro lens! I didn't have a chance to get many shots, but here is one for the time being. I'll take more soon.

 Whats the flow rate supposed to be like,if they were able to.make one like 6"-8" wide and with flow like 120-300gph I think it would be in a lot of nano peoples reach. 

 

 Thats awesome about your friends,hopefully they are able to take advantage of the things they are offered on their stay. I have a few buddies from work who went down to help their families and still trying to piece everything together after Irma hit.

I have never been able to find anything concrete for the minimum flow rate on the 3K, but I know it is supposed to be a little higher than the Maxspect Gyre XF-230. I assume with the max flow on the 2k being 2,000GPH instead of the 3,000GPH of the 3k, that this should be pretty tame on the bottom end. I guess we will find out!

I mentioned we were messing with Sammy's macro lens, here are some of the shots. For an almost 10 year old camera, it is still better than my NX3000....I really need to dump this thing.
