Alexraptor
Can I keep a clam here in my 25g? Its got a 4x24W T5HO light. Obviously a Crocea is out of the question, but could maybe a Maxima work? I have looked at Squamosa's but I think they get a bit on the large size. Quote Link to comment
patback
That's a very broad question. What kind do you want? Where do you want it to be? Best bet is to do the research on flow, size, difficulty and light requirements and see if it fits the bill. No one knows your tank like you know your tank. 1 Quote Link to comment
Alexraptor
I suppose the real question should really be, what would my lighting be strong enough for? Quote Link to comment
RayWhisperer
That depends on your light. Descent ballast, individual reflectors, good bulbs? I can't tell from the pic. I guess I'll have to tell a story to get my point across. I had a gold maxima (least light demanding of all the maxis) under cheap Chinese eBay 4x39 T5 HO. Seemed fine for about 3 weeks. Then it began stretching its mantle further and further up, more every day. Pretty soon the mantle was stretched out almost 3". I knew it wasn't getting enough light. The light was only temporary, as I was building a 4x39 LED combo with Phillips ballasts and individual reflectors. I stepped up sourcing the materials and got I'd done in a mad rush over a weekend. Once that was online, the clam retracted its mantle to a normal size flush with the edge of the shell. 1 Quote Link to comment
