Picked up unused a 22g Mr Aqua cheap since the former owner had a change of plans with his build.

Plan is to keep this inexpensive and use mostly existing equipment. Would like to keep a reef tank but nothing that drains the pockets too much with ongoing cost like electricity and salt.

I went back and forth between AIO vs sump. Decided on AIO since upgrading to a sump afterwards wouldn't be too hard if I dislike it. I think they both have pro's and cons and both can be successful. I already have a AIO section for a 20g Long so I cut it shorter to fit inside the Mr Aqua. This is the old badfish kit from years ago.

Carving out the line to cut it.

The stand is a cheap used piece from Habitat for Humanity. Its solid wood instead of crappy particle board and it's also recycling :) Plans are to replace the hardware and paint it black. It had a great spot for a ATO or perfect for a sump if I ever change my mind.

Added vaneer edging and 2 coats of primer, it says no sanding necessary and adheres to anything so we'll see how true that it. States it takes 7 days to fully adhere. Forgot to buy new hinges at the store, I can somehow never go to the hardware store just once.

Three coats of black and some new hardware (still need to buy hinges). Got the AIO siliconed in, need to find some film to wrap around the AIO part.

Tank isn't in final spot, ordered a foam mat to help with any imperfections so waiting on that and I need to figure out how I want to mount my lights.

Not sure if I will do peninsula or not, sort of depends on the layout of my apartment and where I can get it to fit best. Was going to put it peninsula style next to a couch I am getting but not sure if it will fit since I have a cat tree there too which probably can't be moved much since the cats like it in front of the window. Hmmm..

Thanks! I need to pick up some shims today as the floor is slightly crooked.

I can't wait to see it filled up!  Any plans as far as livestock?

I have a pair of picassos waiting in a 10g, otherwise some active open swimmers. Coral wise no definitive plans....just whatever I like so a mixed reef I guess :)

Got the tank leveled, working on a top.

Weather was so amazing here today! Perfect breeze! Me and the hubby and our puppers got out for a hike and some time on the shore of lake Michigan.

Tank got wet last week, sorry haven't taken a photo yet. Wasn't going to do a skimmer but changed my mind (for now) since I have one that will fit. Added that, got the ATO working and the apex set up.

Some basic corals I had left over and my clown pair in there now. They were sort of living in less than ideal conditions (cramped tank full of rock and crappy flow!) since I took down my 75g in June. They are enjoying the new space.

Tank probably had a mini cycle by the looks of it. The rock has been with me for years but the sand is new dry reef flakes. I have some wispy/short GHA covering some areas, the type one gets right after cycling with the lights on. So I went and picked up a small clean up crew, few hermits, ceriths, and nass snails to get me started. The hermits were really going to town instantly, the holding tanks didn't have much for em. Now it is an all you can eat buffet.

Plan is for a water change tomorrow and add some carbon.

Was out of town for a bit but before I left I added a clean up crew, a few hermits, and cerith snails. The tank had a bunch of GHA from the cycle and I wish I had a before and after pick. When I got back the GHA was mostly gone except in areas that were impossible to reach for the hermits. I didn't realize hermits could eat so much. I think I only have 4 of them.

FTS, ya I got water droplets everywhere, doing some maintenance.

Here is a shot of the GHA on the frags I made from leftover zoa's I had on some rock. I had moved them down to the sandbed and instantly a hermit climbed on. I took this photo yesterday morning.

Here are those same frags this morning with the same hermit and a snail. Someone had a lot of salad last night!

Hey everyone, still here. Just nothing much happening till today.

I picked up a tiger goby from the LFS who is going into quarantine and a rose bubble tip for the clowns. I also got a mystery rock in trade with bam bam zoas and some other pallys/corals but that is going into a 10g Macro tank I have upstairs (will put pics of it on this thread). Another item I got was a Tyree leather coral, it was so freaking neon crazy. I thought I was just getting a bubble tip but I show up and it turns out this guy has tanks and tanks and tanks of frags and corals. Acro's, LPS, Zoa's, Pally's, and a 5-6 inch blue maxima I would have taken home if my tank was ready for it. It is a good thing I didn't know he had more than a bubbletip because I would have brought more cash and went broke. :P He had a crazy green and orange bubble tip too but I resisted.

Anywho, everything is acclimating right now. Will get some pictures when they are happy again.

Wow. Looks great!   What kind if cat do you have?  Looks exotic.

Thank you. I have two Bengal cats :) I like standard cats too but I'm allergic but certain breeds I can tolerate.
