Identify this frag

Hi,

 

Thinking of starting corals (first time ever) in my 10G tank. I am not going to have fancy lighting. looking for low maintenance coral (from lighting perspective). Current inhabitants are 1 Cleaner Shrimp, 1 Camel Shrimp and 1 Nassarius snail. Set up the tank on 23rd Apr.

I did have couple of clowns for a month, but lost them to Brook's disease (I think). I am following the recommendation on web from fellow reefers to go fishless for 8 weeks to get cured of the parasite.. 

In between, I wanted to see if I can get started with 1 coral frag. I wanted to start with Mushrooms, but the LFS did not have them.

Can someone please identify the attached frag and also tell if it is for beginners?

^yep, commonly known as Xenia. Good for beginners, don't pay more than $10-15 for it.

looks like silver xenia to me, cool coral but they have been known to take over, mine sends out little arms that colonize the rest of the tank. its a great beginner coral, just be careful.

I have standard white LED light strips that came with the aquarium.

Those are most likely for fish only not plants or corals.

Is there any specs on the lights?

I am planning to get this light for any mushroom or Xenia that I plan to buy. Please advice if this will work. I am not going to do too many corals.

Thanks. The plan is to experiment with 1 mushroom and xenia and see how they do. Hopefully, the LFS keeps a mushroom frag.

There is another LED fixture that I came across. Need your inputs for growing some mushrooms /xenia/ gsp. 

My tank dimensions are L20" x H12" x W10"
