fishfreak0114
I bought some macroalgae, and yesterday when I went to dip it there was a snail hanging off. I removed it and put it in a measuring cup. Upon further inspection, it looks like it has the little nose thing that a nassarious or whelk does. However, I'm not sure how to tell if it's friendly or not. Any help would be appreciated. Also, does anyone know what the worm in the last pic is? It eats macro. Overnight, it crawled out o the water and I'm pretty sure it's dead Thanks for the help! Weetabix7
The last one looks like it might have the moutparts of a Eunice/Bobbit worm, though I haven't seen one with that pattern. Not sure on the snaily dude. 1 Quote Link to comment
fishfreak0114
Eunice was my first thought too, but I'm fairly sure it eats macro. There was a piece in the container with it, and the worm wrapped itself around it and the macro now looks white and eaten there. Quote Link to comment
johnmaloney
Looks like a species of dove snail. They are mostly harmless. 1 Quote Link to comment
lkoechle
I dont know what the snail is but I know its not a whelk. Whelks have dark snouts like they've been tattooed and mine have darker shells. Neither of mine are in good positions atm for photos. 1 Quote Link to comment
fishfreak0114
Well at least I know for the future. Thanks guys. I put a cerith in there with it and the worm to see if the un-ID'd snail would eat it, but the next morning both the cerith and un-ID'd snail were just shells! I'm assuming the worm was the culprit.
