Took off the red adjustment cap on my 160 gph Pico pump and it has a lot more flow now, especially since I have it directly as the return, and I have tge intake about 3/4" from water surface as the tank evaporates the pump will suck up air reminding me to top off.20170819_234728.thumb.jpg.c1044a6ca3187e9c22716029afd2b005.jpg20170819_234802.thumb.jpg.dc5aa26e5044619cea2a9681521aff64.jpg

My ghetto temporary anti vortek plate, my pump inlet being so close to the surface has been sucking up air. Isn't such a bad thing but I already have a air stone running 24/7 in back middle chamber20170829_125117.thumb.jpg.8c19d001c4232943a79acedce260a57d.jpg

I haven't posted in a while, a lot has changed and my little Pico is growing nicely, I recently realized that an "all in one" Pico tank is a horrible idea I took my tank apart and cut out the back chambers as they were robbing my tank of space now it looks like an 8 gallon cube, and I have simplified it greatly just a light 80gph pump and a heater, no filteration.IMG_20170924_174224.thumb.jpg.98896f005667c32ba37679c279c9ae45.jpg

You did a really nice job removing the back compartments. I have a 3 gallon AOI and I see the pros and cons of both, I think it really depends on how well those back chambers work for you.

Got a drag of mixed zoas I guess from Vietnam I wish these places will tell where there corals come from before I buy, I need to ask more questions. These things were covered in pox and weird growths, so I scrubbed the junk off with a tooth brush, they will open in s few days and look great in my tank.

Neglected my tank since October, finally tore it apart scrubbed it down stirred up the sand and put it all back with a 100gph filter in the back cause I don't have time to care for it like I used to. Overall 180gph of flow and hopefully everything gets back to where it was. 20180106_175646.thumb.jpg.2b1391e35717701a36cda2ab2c27cee5.jpg

Looks great!  I've got 2 questions for you though:

Do you have an ATO for this?  If so, which one are you using?

Does the HOB filter push the sand around a lot?  Does it provide enough water movement throughout the tank?

I top it off by hand, it goes through huge salinity fluctuations but I've never had an issue. The 100ghp from the filter does not mess with my sand, but I did have to turn down my smaller pump cause it was blasting my zoas and hammer.
