My loving wife just took this picture. It actually came out really nice. IMG_1667.thumb.PNG.1a4101634b59b53e1f88207248833933.PNG

Gotta love a spouse that supports the habit!

So, as we all know. It's tax season. Uncle Sam once a year opens up his satchel & gives us colonists a few shillings back.  ?

I peruse craigslist like it's my second job for various oddities. I stumbled upon a deal I simply cannot pass up.

A Bc29 and stand. Along with:

Pump (pics look like a koralia)
2 filters (not sure what he means)
Test kit
Bunch of chemicals
Heater
Refractometer (this is awesome)
Carbon pad
Instant ocean salt (le sigh, I just bought a 240g box)
And whatever else He can find.

All for a measly $100.

I check it out sunday.

BC are nice. I have a 16

They are! I once had a jbj 28. It was a nice little tank.

Perks of this tank are(is):

- It's still running, so the upgrade should be instant (meaning no cycle) just bring it home, set it up. Let it run for a few hours to settle & add my corals & fish.

- It's a 29g gallon tank with LR. The possibilities are endless. And, i can get more corals....i mean forals. (dammit) Foralish? *must resist urge to get more fish*

- It's a bc29, StevieT makes cool things for it. I like cool things

-LED upgrade

So, I've been working midnights.

Wife woke me up with some surprise frags.

One head duncan, what appears to be a torch, and a green candy cane.

Hooray for frags.

Oh, and if anyone can help me take better pics with this iPhone 6 Plus that would be great

I just bought the "Aquarium cam" app for $3 off the App Store and it's pretty good. You can see what it looks like before and after right here.

Well, tank turned out to be a bust. Even for $100 I just couldn't do it.

The tank had had a rotten smell, the rim and lid were cracked in several places. The live rock was full of aptasia. And the stand was all scuffed up.

I gave the gentleman a bunch of advice and left.

Looks like things are progressing nicely! I think that montipora may be my favorite piece so far.

Can I tell you a secret?

its the very first sps I've ever owned that's lived for more then a week in any of my tanks.  EVER. Tl;dr. I've only tried once before.

I can grow scoly, acans, deep water zoas, leathers, clams. But feared the sps.  My lfs has some sort of stylo for $5. Might give it a whirl

I've always found montipora to be pretty easy sps. They tolerate a wide range of light, and as long as alk is stable, they don't care about much else. Good luck!
