Lost absolutely everything to a house fire back in February. I mean everything, tank clothes, food, memories. EVERYTHING. Family and I are fine. We have a new place to live......SOOOOOOOO

Back at it again. No name 5.5g tank. Cheap wal-mart filter. Cheap Amazon Par38 bulb.

how it all started

Tank is cycled, cuc has been ordered already. Time for some frags this weekend.

This makes me happy. :happydance:

You know, it's actually because of you that I came back to N-R and got back into tanks, and now I'm doing all kindsa fun, Reefy stuff!!!

So thanks.

Oh, current tank thread is in my Sig if you feel like stopping by.

There's actually two tanks on that thread, cos, y'know, I just gotta be different. :P

That makes me all squishy inside. Seriously!

I ordered a cuc, and some fern caulerpa from Reef Cleaners. Sadly, they were out of the caulerpa. YAY for escargot!

At some point this week, I'll be fabricating a lid, to combat 3 things.

1) accidental toy dosage (toddler)

2) unwanted fishing expeditions (cats)

3) water evaporation

Mini update:

Was walking around A.C. Moore (its a crafty kinda store). Happened upon some very thick colored paper. Asked the wife which color she wanted as a background for the tank. This is what we settled on.

As a side note, I've been toying with several idea's in my head. The water flow from this filter is entirely inadequate. Yes I could get a ac70/110 and call it a day, but that's boring imo. I'd like to make some sort of pico closed loop using a maxijet, and a reactor. I'll post more when i have definitive plans.

Went to Lowes over the weekend, to have a lid cut from glass. In that right, i was successful. Fitment, not so much. The gentleman cut the glass 1/8" to wide. So it doesnt 100% fit.

:sigh:

Ps: Snails and penny macro from Reef Cleaners is doing well. Water change thursday

Nothing to report, other then diatoms. Tank is still lacking corals. Snails are doing snail things.

Mebbe you should add a bubbly diver to the tank for interest.

Well, looks like there will be some sort of life coming to this little pico (finally).

A local reefer from another board has pachyclavularia & cespitularia frags.

Also placed a order at a lfs for a small ptilocaulis & a T. maxima

The AC 70 filter on my 5.5g is probably to much flow sand gets kicked around a bunch.

I put the AC20 impeller on mine and turned flow way down.  That helps a bunch.

So, shortly after my last post. My family and I got hit with another bomshell.....Turns out the insurance company is suing us to the tune of 400k for the damages to the house we rented. Needless to say, I didn't have a desire to reef. I cancelled all my orders & pulled the plug on the tank. It sat stagnant until wednesday.

Fast forward 6 months later, I managed to beat the insurance company in it's own game & financially come out ahead.

So time to reboot this tank. Im only gonna give y'all a single word teaser

Holy cow, that sucks!  Hope things will finally look up for you guys.  My 5.5 is barebottom, unless you count the forest of frags littering the bottom.
