HarryPotter
Talk about clickbait... ??? I can relate to getting all the random fans around the house to dry out a wood floor. The best thing has been a pivoting blower fan, crazy strong and has two outlets on it to connect other things (fans). Is the wifi cam Public? I thought about that for my tank but decided it would be creepy. Nice opening things up Quote Link to comment
Travis
I was lucky to have had the fan there, it isn't even ours! lol. No this cam doesn't have the option to be public. It uses an app so I can see it on my phone from anywhere with a data connection. It would be creepy if it wa public lol. 2 Quote Link to comment

Last night we decided to get a move on it (pun intended ) Drained the water, still too heavy to lift. So we tried just pushing and surprisingly it slid easily. We got it all set back up in the new (temporary) location. 30 minutes later. My wife screams from the room with the tank....WATER! WATER EVERYWHERE! Boys and girls, hose clamps are very important. The main return line at the pump is a flex hose and it decided to pop off. I did fiddle with it before we moved it so I probable made it come loose... Had to make a fresh 10 gallons of water, I guess it could have been worse. It's all dried up now and the fish and coral are completely unaffected. I'm keeping a close eye on them with the help of a wifi cam. In other news, I got the old panelling off of the center wall that we are taking out. It's going to make the main living space HUGE compared to what it was. Haha wowzer! Moving a tank couldn't have been that easy, of course a hose would pop off! I'm glad it wasn't any worse though! I love seeing photos of the whole project, the new space will really be transformed with the kitchen open. Way cool! Does this look familiar? ? 4 Quote Link to comment

Even after the move, the demand for alk has increased so I bought a larger sized dosing container for the ATI Essentials. These are 1500 mL. My previous ones where only 500mL. 2 Quote Link to comment
teenyreef
The tank looks beautiful! I had to laugh about the moving mishap though, just because I could so easily do the same thing. I had the same problem with dosing ati essentials too, had to upgrade to 2l bottles. I wish it could be more concentrated but I was told the alk wouldn't mix right. 1 Quote Link to comment

Travis
Quick video FTS for April. Lost tge plate coral since the last video. Really not sure why. It was sold to me as a wild collected coral so I guess it didn’t transition to captivity all that well. 1 Quote Link to comment
Christopher Marks
The tank looks great post-move @Travis! The remodel is coming along nicely too! Do you have to get a specially engineered beam/truss for your wall removal or were you able to use a standard glue lam? Quote Link to comment
Travis
Standard laminated beam. Its only holding the weight of the floor. The roof is supported by the exterior walls. 1 Quote Link to comment

Travis
Reno Progress!!! We used two false walls to support the ceiling as the ceiling joists where split in the middle of the house, supported by the center wall. Beam Up, False walls out, NO WALL!! No creaking sounds either, the beam is very strong. Pictured is my uncle in-law Joey and my buddy, OD. And we moved the entry way into the new dining room. we are going to make it a case opening. Stay tuned, more Reno updates to come. 2 1 Quote Link to comment

Travis
The house renovation is going well, thought I should share some updated pics. Hopefully we can start paining in the next few weeks then it will be time for the new kitchen cabinets. 1 1 Quote Link to comment
Travis
I am going to use this time to do something new for the tank. A new stand to match the new woodwork! My cabinet builder is totally on board with the idea, he likes everything to match. lol Here's a rendering of what I hope to achieve. If you can't already tell, the sump will be housed on the left, and a dry space for the electronics on the right with its own access. There will be doors. Any thoughts on this? 3 Quote Link to comment

Christopher Marks
Really impressive remodel so far @Travis, I hadn't checked-in in awhile! So nice and open. How's the painting coming along? Nice design for your custom stand, that will be awesome to have! I like the design keeping the electronics divided from the sump space, you can create a nice 'command center' on the side. Would it be difficult to add another access door on the left side as well? Sump spaces can be cramped, one more side to reach from could be handy. Quote Link to comment
Travis
Thanks @Christopher Marks!!! The remodel is chugging right along, here's a pic of the kitchen, still in progress, not fully trimmed out, and missing the island and pantry 🙂 Yeh I was thinking another door on the left, but that side is supporting that entire left side of the tank. Not sure I want to cut a door through it. The other side is aided in support by the wall that separates the sump area and the electrical area. He is not building it with 2x4s, just the 3/4" plywood, which is plenty strong. 1 Quote Link to comment
Travis
Update rendering of the stand. The sump area will be large enough for the sump and the ATO reservoir. The current sump is too large for this stand with the electrical cabinet, so I ordered a new sump last week when BRS was running a 10% off sale on sumps 🙂 I got the Skimz UP22 Sumpro 😄 Also, I bought something I have wanted for a long time, well technically two somethings 😃 MP40WQD Stay tuned folks! 2 Quote Link to comment
