TechLobster
Hi, Anyone have any idea what these weird pink growths are on my rock? They look kind of like semi-translucent branched sponges. There are multiple (currently ~20) small outcroppings of them and they are each currently 2-5 mm. Tank is currently 2 months old with only a tiger pistol shrimp and his goby buddy and CUC. I got the live rock fresh out of a 10 year old mature reef from a guy off craigslist. ~Tech Link to comment
Weetabix7
Might be a Macroalgae sprouting, too small to tell for sure just yet. Could end up being something really cool!! Link to comment
1891Bro
Faoraminifarans or some such nonsense spelling. Link to comment
TechLobster
I tried to Google myself for a bit and had thought it might be foraminiferans, it seemed to fit the description, but I couldn't find any comparable photos that look close anywhere. Just googled red macro algae and this is currently my best guess. I'll update if they get any larger and hope it is something really cool. Either way, neither of these seem terribly bad for my tank... Thanks Link to comment
