Large coral break off?

My tank has recently had a large phosphate spike that is killing some of my glass clinging polyps. Recently My large leather coral has had large chunks About 1.5 in to 3in fall off. My question is, will these chunks that look relatively healthy reattach and start as New corals, or will they start breaking down and cause further increases in My phosphates?

How do the chunks look? Leather fragging is literally just cutting a piece off and applying treatment to promote health.

Photos would help, and your tank prams / size / system setup.

If the coral is falling apart then it doesn't sit well that the parts would love if water quality is that bad.

We need the parameters of the tank and pics

Chunks coming off is not good. Leathers are pretty resilient so if its at a stage where its falling apart, it may need fragging to be saved.
