Samnaz's 20L (upgrading to IM Nuvo Black 30L)

Then I added sand.

Definitely regret not rinsing this stuff first. Any time I move something even slightly on the sand bed, there's a cloud of silt.

Before I add sand to the 30 in the future, I'm rinsing it for a good long time. I also opted for Special Grade Reef Sand, instead of Fiji Pink. (larger grain size)

A very blue photo of my new Frogspawn, a few days after I added it to the tank. In the back you can kind see a large colony of Palythoas as well.

A picture of the Frogspawn in daylight (does anyone know what that black stuff is growing on the base? Is it normal? I'm assuming it is, since this coral is still alive months later..)

I placed an order online for a single Cyphastrea frag (don't drink and bid on frags on eBay, ha...). The vendor kindly added a FREE branching acro, assuming I was capable of keeping it alive. At the time I was 2 months into my first reef tank and knew I wasn't ready.

And the Cyphastrea, green with purple polyps.

Polyps on the acro starting to show themselves... barely.

Got 4 Sexy Shrimps.

Here they are acclimating before adding them to the tank.

These two posted up on a dwarf cerith immediately after I added them to the tank. They were terrified!

Additions from AquaSD.

This one was a freebie and came with a brittle star. If anyone has any idea what type of coral this is let me know, haven't seen anything like it as far as I can tell. Hard to tell from this pic, better pics later....

Thanks for the update. The tank looks great. Are you planning on placing those frags eventually? Or are you going to leave them on the rack to trade/propagate? Also, is that a condy nem in the top right?

Thanks for looking!

Actually, I'm waiting to place those frags until I have a solid, complete and visually appealing rockscape, which won't be ready until I transfer everything to the 30L. I don't want to make anything permanent on the rocks until I'm sure I will be keeping them in the future tank. While these rocks have been fantastic as far as providing biological filter and diversity, I hate the way they look - round and difficult to mount frags on in an aesthetically pleasing way. So, I have created something much better with dry rock. I'll use that as my base to mount the frags when I complete the transfer.

The frag top right is a Torch.

Here is an awesome video I just found on youtube of Eric Borneman demonstrating how to frag many many kinds of corals. It's very long but I enjoyed every second and it's been the most helpful by FAR of all the videos I've seen about fragging (and I've seen a lot....)

Creating rock structures for the 30L - ahh the possibilities are endless! Anyone feel free to let me know what you think of these and how to make them better.... I've spent so much time looking at them I don't know what to think anymore. The final and most difficult task will be fitting them all together in a seamless natural ocean reef like way...

That Cyphastrea is my favorite coral. My plan is to cover a wall with it eventually. It grows crazy fast which is an added bonus to it's beauty.

Following yours now :p, I like my rocks to look more like a lagoon. This is more or less my goal at any scale aquarium. Does this not make your mouth water :wub:Image result for lagoon reef tank
