Sara's Reef
Hello. I'm brand new to this group (just started my Aquarium Journal today). My tank is almost 3 months old now, and up until now, have had very few problems. This morning I woke up to find my Corral Beauty Angel was dead. I treated my Royal Gramma for fin rot a couple of weeks ago (quarantine tank with Cupramine), but my angel has no signs of infection or aggression. I took a photograph as soon as I removed her from the tank and looked the body over carefully. I will test water parameters tonight (I typically do this weekly); last week's readings were: ammonia, 0, nitrates, less than 10 ppm, nitrites, 0, KH, 160, pH, 8.3, salinity, 1.023, temperature, 81 degrees. I did add an Elegance Coral on Sunday, but I don't see any lesions or marks, and the fish was nowhere near the coral this morning. I have also started protein skimming to get the nitrates lower (I change 3-4 gallons out weekly; tank is 28 gallons total). Any ideas, or is this just one of those inexplicable deaths?
