I figured it was time to put up or shut up.

Welcome to my 12 Gallon long and dirty reef.

Equipment: (updated 11/5/2019)

Display:  Mr. Aqua 12 Gallon long

Lighting: Current USA Marine Orbit Pro IC

     Heater:  Tetra

     Flow:     2- MP 10's

     Carib Sea Dry Base Rock

     Carib Sea Fiji Pink Sand

This tank was started 2/4/2016 with a tank i found on craigslist.

I am a long time freshwater fish keeper.  I had thought of keeping a saltwater tank before but I didn't even know nano reefs were a thing.......maybe i should have kept it that way. :)

I love everyone's names! The Hulk might be my favorite ❤️

How long have you had the crocea clam now? It's beautiful.

The clam has been in there since August. It used to keep me up at night worrying but it seems to be doing great.

Not bad for my iPhone!  I need to quit being lazy and try for some real pics sometime.

I looooove those shots of the Money Cowrie!!!

Money Cowries are the best, and not easy to find.

He hardly ever comes out during the day and if you "spot light" him at night he draws his body in, so any time he is out I try to get as many pics as possible.  I never really knew they were so cool, I just thought they had pretty shells. ?

I love your tank!  And your photos are great!

What kind of filter do you use with that tank?

Thank you so much!

I like to keep it low tech...... no filter, sump or skimmer. I do a weekly water change of 3 gallons and top off manually each day.

In addition to looking really cool, they are also good consumers of pest algae.

They are a favorite of mine.

I tend to use this approach as well on Nano Tanks.

On my 1.7g Waterfall tank I change 100% of the water at a time, but this is my first time trying that.
