but do i need only 2x36 watts lights or do i need 2x55 watt lights for a 20 gallon soft coral tank??

For the 20 gallon tank I would do two 55w PCs, one 10,000K, and one lamp Actinic 03. Coralife makes great bulbs too!

On my 20H, I have Jali 2x55w pcs with coral life bulbs,10000k and blue 03. I have no complaints as of yet, and would recommend it. Your better off spending a few xtra bucks now on the 55s vs the 32s, than having to drop a bunch of money on upgrades later. Of course it all depends on what you plan on keeping. But anyone who says they just want mushrooms is full of it, after a few months they are going to want to add other corals, and guess what...they will have to go buy lights AGAIN. Save yourself and your bank account the pain and do it strong the first time.JMO;)
