Hi All. 🙂I've been around, kind of - it's been a crazy year for me due to personal stuff, I won't bore you with all of it. tl;dr We bought a new house and spent many months renovating it. Once that was all done we moved along with the tank and everything was happy and thriving but then unfortunately the company who was trenching Fibre cables for the area hit our power line and our house was without power for many days in the middle of winter. Yes, once again I lost nearly everything - 99% of my tank died, the corals and fish I had cared for for, some for years were gone and it was extremely frustrating. I was going to just throw in the towel but I guess I'm a sucker for punishment so I've rebooted.

Sorry to hear about the loss @4x5, it is nonetheless good to see you back with us! :grouphug: I can't wait to see what you create next.

Now that you have a new home (congrats!!), have you made any plans for potential power outages in the future? Have you looked into investing in a generator and home connection on your service panel? You could always just run extension cords to the generator outside for your tank alone, as well, smaller generators have come down in price the last few years. I've been considering having an electrician wire my home to make for an easy transition during an outage, we have summer storms that take power out sometimes, but I haven't gotten any bids yet.

I was checking it this year, in NC the cost is around 1000$ to hook up the generator to the house.

Thanks Christopher, it's nice to be back. omgomgomg Getting a generator or some other power backup solution is certainly on my list of to do's now, the timing of the power outage was very unfortunate this time (as are all issues it seems, funny how things never break when it's convenient, haha) but being prepared is certainly underestimated.

You can pick up a little portable inverter generator for a couple hundred bucks.

The one I have is 800w can run at half load for 6 hours. So it should be able to run at least the main life support of a tank for 12 hours.

Your latest FTS looks like you got rid of the MP40s in favor of a gyre. Any reason you changed things up and how you like the gyre better or worse?

I never had MP40s 🙂 I currently run a couple of Tunzes and a Glamorca Gyre (or whatever it's called) - the reason was just to test it on a longer tank given the price point - the flow is pretty good I must say.

Oof... I meant MP10s...

I'm guessing you like your gyres better than the two mp10 situation?

I should probably update my initial post, I never even used the MP10s in this tank as I had planned - the design didn't translate to what I got back from the builder so the glass was too thick where I had planned to use the MP10s - I use them to clean my sump now. I loved my MP10s on the smaller tank, they rule.  🙂

Are those chalk bass? How do you like them? Do they swim out in the open? Always considered getting one...

Yep, they are indeed. 🙂 They are out and about all the time yah, I really like them - they seem so grumpy.

I picked up some new friends for the tank this week. I can't have a tank without a Yellow Coris and I thought I'd try a Regal Tang for something new. On a side note, I've had those Zoanthids for 5 years now, which is cool.
