mystersyster
Couple of changes. Ditched my jebaos and added one gyre fx230. Boy do I love this thing. I bought the pump only, and found a smoking deal on a gyre/apex interface module. This thing is sweet and moves water like I've never seen. The highest it runs is at 40 percent. During part of the day it oscillates between 25% (1 second) and 40% (0.5 seconds). No more dead spots!! Second change is to my nitrates. I have never, in my entire time keeping SPS been satisfied with colors. Thought it was lights, then food, then lights again, then trace elements, then I have no fricken clue. My best guess is it's the 0 nitrates. I have a red sea algae pro test kit for nitrates and phosphates. Nitrates have read a hard 0 for a long time. So I've began to add potassium nitrate, starting today. I mixed 1 tbsp of Spectracide Stump Remover with 1 cup of water. I've dosed 5ml of that solution, and so far I haven't picked up on any nitrates on the test. Excited to start seeing some colors come back. Lets hope this works over the next few weeks. 1 Quote Link to comment
mystersyster
I just purchased my first home so it's been a little chaotic. My livestock is currently in a tough tote container while I set up the 66 again. It's all nice and clean, and I've redone all the plumbing, save the return. Plumbing isn't pretty but it's nice to do everything right this time. My wife is getting agitated with all the buckets and totes laying around so I'm hoping to get it wet at the end of this week! 2 Quote Link to comment
mystersyster
Return manifold prototype. It has feed lines for a BRS and TLF reactor. I'm going to add another union on the right side. It will be soft tubing otherwise... Quote Link to comment

mystersyster
Finally have my sump set up the way I want! It's 95% done. I'm hanging a grow light over the refugium section to grow more macro algae. Very exciting stuff 4 Quote Link to comment

Thank you. My BRS dosers were pulling pulling air into the lines from somewhere. Probably a workable problem but I decided I wanted a new toy instead lol. Zoas are cool. I just moved so they look like crap right now. Not photo worthy haha. 1 Quote Link to comment

Lynaea
Have you had the Chaeto reactors long? I’ve been wondering how well they really work and how difficult they are to maintain. Daylight shots are awesome! 1 Quote Link to comment

I’ve been wondering how well they really work and how difficult they are to maintain. Daylight shots are awesome! I have had the Chaeto reactor up for about a week. I did the DIY a long time ago with my TLF 150, but it's not working well. The light strip I have is burning the chaeto really bad, even at 8 hours a day. I bought a light that I hung up tonight and took the Chaeto reactor offline for now. They seem to work really well for some people, but Caulerpa seems to grow in my system a lot better than Chaeto anway. 10 hours ago, tanacharison said: That doser is sweet! The clams are beautiful ? I'm loving the doser! Very simple and accurate. When I calibrated they were spot on at 10ml. Clams are life haha Quote Link to comment
mystersyster
Went to Vegas for a much needed vacation. Got back to the tank looking pretty good, Clams suck up an extreme amount of alkalinity. My dKH was 6.15 when I came home. Thats down from 6.95. I immediately dosed 10ml of my ATI 3 part. I'll be throwing this down in the sump soon since its doing so well in the display.
