Funkateer_1
Just upgraded to a CADlights 42 gallon today. Upgraded from a Nuvo 25 (included in pictures) Everything is still pretty ticked off. Plan to stock it with butterflies and angels. I wanna keep it open and really recreate a coral bommie. 1 Quote Link to comment

Funkateer_1
Here's an update. Not much.... unfortunately my big female clown succumbed to velvet. She was in my care for 10 years. My male had to be removed due to the aggression from the other fish. Quote Link to comment
Funkateer_1
My fish list is the following: Plesiops coeruleolineatus (Japanese Collected) Niger Trigger Common striped damsel Common yellowtail damsel Slingjaw Wrasse Black Back Butterfly (C. Melannotus) I will probably add a few more butterflies and an angel to balance it out as well as figure out my clown situation. Quote Link to comment
Funkateer_1
New addition. Always wanted one of these Quote Link to comment

Funkateer_1
Not much to update. Cant believe its already 4 months old. Tank is doing well and just got its monthly wipe down and filter maintenance. I'm pretty lazy about upkeep. Haven't tested anything once since I set it up. Nice break from SPS. All the water used I mooch off my LFS display tank. No issues, had some cyano pop up and chemipure took care of that. Blame the strong ambient lighting and long days we have in the PNW. There's a little bubble algae and aiptasia in the back. Been killing the flow and removing them weekly. Seems to be much better. Lastly I will be moving to house (not far) and decided I will remove all the fish except for the plesiops. Once my clowns died the entire hierarchy of the tank got thrown off and the established fish got very aggressive to newcomers. Time to start fresh. Quote Link to comment
Funkateer_1
A little video update Quote Link to comment
Funkateer_1
October Update. Minimal water changes (only with waste water from someone else's tank). Occasional dosing and heavy feeding. Doing great! Quote Link to comment
Funkateer_1
It seems like this forum has quiet down over the years. No replies at all. Anyways here’s a brief update on the tank. I just let the softies grow and grow. I hack em back maybe once a month and trade the trimmings for coral food or put an add on the local groups. Always trim macroalgae and softies for beer. Had as a little bout of velvet out of nowhere, no new additions in a long time. Lost everyone but my Plesiops so I added some seahorses. They’re doing great. Caught them getting frisky a few times. 1 Quote Link to comment
This guy is extra salty
Ok I’m curious the “water change” you speak of is the discarded water? I’m not following.. lol but your setup if quite nice I have always debated about pots in a tank care to share the benefit or disadvantages? Quote Link to comment

Well I go to my LFS and siphon water out of their coral tanks. Do a quick 5 gallon water change for them lol. Now that I don’t have a big tank anymore mixing salt is just hassle. Regarding the pots, my old clowns would just brutalize any habitable coral or anemone in the tank. They killed several anemones, an elegance and few others. So I added the pots and they took right to them. I was tempted to breed them and the pots made it easy to transfer the eggs. Now they’re covered in coraline and fauna so I’ve left them in there. My Sebae is actually stuck in a pot too Quote Link to comment
This guy is extra salty
So they’re just regular terra-cotta pots? did you have to clean them before hand in vinegar? could you explain that process? im debating on putting some into a new build cause I’ve had the same issue with my clowns Quote Link to comment

I have a beer bottle in there too. Totally caked in coralline. No issues whatsoever but then again I don’t really keep sensitive corals. Quote Link to comment
This guy is extra salty
Interesting im guessing i would have to cycle it since I have an sps dominated reef thanks for the feedback Quote Link to comment

Funkateer_1
Well a friend of mine found a factory sealed 1998 Neptune Aquacontroller buried in the back of a fish store. Hooked up purely for nostalgia sake. Just using it for monitoring only. Still cool. Also a candid FTS 2 1 Quote Link to comment
