Sometimes bigger ones can be a little persnickity, I think. 1 Quote Link to comment
Ranjib
I have seen it twice coming out. So, its there for sure. Not sure why the crown is not out always as before. I think they are light sensitive, they can definitely sense light, otherwise they should not spook out when some one approaches them. Mine one definitely retracts if i come closer to tank suddenly. Flow pattern can be the cause, but for such a small tank, i wonder how much difference this makes. Quote Link to comment
Ranjib
Updates, tank is doing OK. The tyree blue challice suddenly showed significant tissue recession in one night. Its not dead, but I am not sure what bothering it, since i lowered down the light it made recovery from initial tissue loss, the new damage is kinda bummer. Fingers crossed. Finally the bigger feather duster is coming out, i was able to get a pic this weekend FTS Green paly at the bottom has grown a bit The big feather duster :-) 1 Quote Link to comment
Christopher Marks
That's frustrating to see the chalice continue to struggle, have the sexy shrimp continued to bother it? 1 Quote Link to comment

Yes . But I think it only bothers the challice when its injured (and in the exact same spot). I have also noticed that spot feeding complicates thing, as the shrimp tries to grab food off the challice. Hard to say for sure, but i think its a contributing factor. Next i'll focus on no spot feeding and only feed tiny amounts of flakes for the shrimp. Corals should be fine without feeding, they;ll just grow slow 1 Quote Link to comment
JBM
Just read through. Good looking tank 1 Quote Link to comment
Ranjib
Current FTS The challice has recovered well. I chipped of some of the front part ,. which was dead and bubble algae was taking a hold (other dead spots had healed up). I gotfew softies from local frag swap. Added couple of mushrooms and green nepthea 2 Quote Link to comment
Ranjib
Added couple of frags of neculear green play and another green play (with yellowish skirt ) from a fellow local reefer. I always wanted to have these plays but most folks (including LFS) told me they are pest, hence I never introduced them in the biocube. But in this one , I think I am cool with it. :-). After all I have gsp , green play and grandis in it Other than this everything is business as usual . I am still doing 80% wc every two weeks. The sexy shrimp is fine as well. He keeps on nipping at various corals. Most often the grandis Green Nepthea , I don’t think it has any visible growth since I introduced it. No sign of stress either 1 Quote Link to comment
Ranjib
FTS Rocks got dislocated a bit. I have find some time and glue them together Feather duster, Challice is holding steady New palys have started to open up i love how the tank looks 🙂 . This is such a low cost, low maintenance tank, with mostly pest corals, still looks so nice. The nuclear green paly is one of my long sought after one. Could not add it in my 29G , cause I was worried it may get invasive. Also, rarely LFS sells it. Got this frag from one of the local reefer One of the mushroom has taken hold on the rocks 2 Quote Link to comment
Ranjib
New palythoas are doing good now. Love these. I am very happy to have them in this tank. I dont think any green coral can match the color of nuclear green paly, The older green paly has grown lot more heads now... it looks kinda dull compared to the new ones Green nepthea One of the green mushroom, on snail shell Free range limpets and snails 🙂 Sexy shrimp Featherduster 5 Quote Link to comment

JBM
Nuclear greens are among my favorite zoa/paly aswell. I remember a time when they where 30-40 a poly 1 Quote Link to comment
Ranjib
Tank is doing ok. Nothing new , I love the way it looks . With the nuclear green play in, I don’t see any more changes , other than may be fixeing the rockscape with blue (currently its three different pieces just stacked ) I spotted a baby bristlestar crawling through the glass. It was strange since I never see them out in the open sexy shrimp is doing good He regularly nips at corals. But with so many corals I think the stress is now distributed Nassrius snail, only comes out during feeding thats all for now, have a good one 1 Quote Link to comment
Ranjib
Fts grandis island on top Challice.. humming along Speckled green play has several new heads Nuclear green plays are still settling in 3 Quote Link to comment
Christopher Marks
I really like the Grandis island up there, nice addition! Quote Link to comment
Ranjib
Independence Day update (belated) fts tanks is doing ok. This tank really does not require any high maintenance other than water change after every two weeks . I glued the plays to rockscape from sandbed Sexy shrimp continued to nip at grandis , but I think at this point grandis growth has surpassed the damage , and overall it’s showing new babies i have grandis growing in another pico tank as well ( healdsburg), which I have to remove , so not too worry about it Green nepthea closeup Bristle star, can not see their body, can only see their lingering legs 🙂 The blue tyree challice is doing ok. It was attached to the back wall, and during maker faire I had to detach it , which left some part of the challice left in the wall. Now those bits are growing, and they look bit strange , I can spot the mouths this tank is also showing more and more coralline growth, I am happy about that . Quote Link to comment
Ranjib
Current fts lights were off before the photo shoot, hence gsp is all closed up Grandis growing strong , even after all the nipping the sexy shrimp do Web of brittle star legs this freckled green play has become quiet a show piece The other green paly thats all for now. Happy reef keeping everyone 🙂 1 Quote Link to comment
Ranjib
Tank is doing alright. The only recent development is the nuclear green play was taken over by another play :-(. I am pruning other corals to avoid them sticking to glass. I have also glued a frag of orange digitata to see if I can grow little harder sps. I am skeptical though , since light intensity is fairly low in this tank fts Paly The other paly that took over nuclear greens Purple capricornis , limpet shells on it 1 Quote Link to comment
Ranjib
Tank is humming along. No changes, since last update. Heres an FTS and a closeup of the nepthea during water change (images are taken under heavy blue and color corrected for temperature using Camera+ in iPhone) Nepthea happy reefing, 1 Quote Link to comment
Ranjib
Hello everyone, time for tank updates . Not good news, the tyree challice lost a lot of tissue, not sure why , probably the sexy shrimp , but can be other reason also. Northeast and plays continued to grow , sexy shrimp is doing good as well. No new addition or deletion . Fts gsp is also mostly closed for couple of days. I hooked up the hob filter , with filter floss. If things don’t improve I’ll add a chemipure nano there All the plays and Nepthea continued to grow. Grandis has gotten to a volume that I think I have to frag soon 3 Quote Link to comment
Ranjib
Current fts close up green plays are growing faster than most other corals. I glued another sps frag (a green acropora from my biocube) to check how it does . The sexy shrimp is already nipping at it 😞 . my apartment move is coming late this month I am thinking if I should change anything (rockscape etc) as part of the move or keep the tank as it is. I like how it looks , but i also want to grow some harder corals .... 2 Quote Link to comment
Ranjib
Long time 🙂 the reincarnated version of this tank lot has changed since my last update. I moved my zoa garden from the other pico tank to this one. Most of its then residents were given away to local reefers. Some plays and gsp had no takers, they were ..... tank is doing good overall. I run it without any filter media. Once every two week water change and flake food. Also added a clown fish four months ago 2 Quote Link to comment
Christopher Marks
Good to see you @Ranjib, I’m happy to see this update! The zoa garden looks good in there. It sounds like it’s going well with easy maintenance. 🙂 1 Quote Link to comment

I do intend to incorporate a job filter back again, sometime in near future and focus on some sps stuff , may be sometime next year . By then reed-pi 3.0 will be stable and I’ll have a wave maker for this tank 1 Quote Link to comment
Ranjib
Some close up shots of the tank. Clown fish , eagle eye colony vamp in a drag ?? Not sure bambam blue cloves ( evasive , trying to get rid of it slowly ) rastas 🙂 green slimer. I like the polyp extension . It’s fun to watch it so close grandis babies . This rock used to have a sizable colony of grandis , I relocated it to an isolated island in my bio cube, as it outgrows and shades other in this tank. But it grows back again n agin . Pretty slow though , I have fragged it three time in past one year. Local lfs sell then for 30$. I think I’ll have to flush these ones in toilet 😕 1 Quote Link to comment
