Ah I see. So since I don't have mint (see attached photo), and with my light being 8 inches above the water line, would 20 percent white be okay. I've attached a pic of my mid day setting. Mixed reef but mostly soft and lps corals. And also wondering if 8 inches is the right height to be above the water line.

I ended up at 80 for blues and 22 for whites....6-7" off water.  LPS dominant tank, topped with easy SPS.

At 30 or just past that on the whites, I would get some fading on the few SPS I had.

I'd try 25 on the whites and bump your blues to at least 75....I'd also bump your cyan to match the royal blues and violets...have them all be the same.  just my 2 cents.

Or give this a shot:

mid day

80

22

80

then in the evening,

Like Burt said. Bump the cyan/blue up as well to match the violet and royal blue.

I also like a ~ 9 hour light schedule.

It has been a busy week and I hope everyone that is effected by Irma is recovering safely. I had a few minutes to snap a couple macros yesterday.

Updates on the tank. After using Aquaforest salt I started to get a really gnarly bacteria bloom reoccurring. I can get this under control normally but has zero success lately. I have switched over to Fritz salt and so far so good.

Walt Disney Side : Starting to grow on side of plug.

Looks great Dave, the Setosa fire is really cool. Not a color you see much.

It is just a normal Setosa. I was calling it fire as a description. ;)

It looks phenomenal however. Thanks!

Amazing tank! Are you worried about any coral warfare? How will the lepto do with the favias?

Thanks! It will happen but only the strong survive!

Just water changes for now. I will start dosing once things get larger.

I was not happy with the pictures I took so I took a quick video on the phone.

I have been on the go for weeks and the tank had a massive outbreak of bubble algae. Time to get down and dirty! The corals are growing and still looking incredible.

Update time!

Good :

  • Corals are showing increased coloration weekly and growth has been above average
  • Current light has been running no whites with no slow downs - Proving a no white array can work
  • I currently have nine fish in the tank and they are providing extra nutrients that I think contribute to better coloration/health of corals
  • NYOS Skimmer is preforming above and beyond - 3-4 days with thick nasty skimmate

Bad :

  • I have a bubble algae outbreak - Manually removing weekly and plan on contacting a few people to see what can help
  • Bryopsis - This has been popping up here and there and driving me nuts - I purchased Fluconazole to see if it can create miracles like people state
  • Six Line Jump - Six lines are one of my favorite fish. For the worst mine randomly jumped after a water change
  • Dead spots - The RedSea 170 has two corners that I trouble providing flow - Looking into the new Grye 2K to add

Future :

  • Possibly add a tang OR six line
  • Install AquaMaxx Algae reactor - More on this later
  • Additional pump

Setosa is now growing fast and steady - The acro next to it has been looking terrible for months and FINALLY regaining it looks on new growth - Favias are spot on

nanoboxreefer103017-4

Chalices growing quickly now. I plan on transferring to larger plugs/plates :

nanoboxreefer103017-5

Walt Disney : Coloring well and getting thicker - This receives the most light and flow

nanoboxreefer103017-2

Acro starting to color up :

nanoboxreefer103017

Top down - You can see the yellow markings coming in the scoli - New growth everywhere :

Thank you. No I am using the AquaMaxx reactor that you can purchase through @Marine Depot

I am sure I could make one but for the cost it was much cheaper.

The tank is chugging along! Corals are colorful, growing and looking better each day. However not everything is perfect. I had a run of Bryopsis but has now been treated with Flunco ( thanks @teenyreef ). I do have aptasia and bubble popping up everywhere which will be dealt with in the coming weeks.

Video :

Setosa - One of my favorite corals. This is thriving in this tank.

NanoBoxDec-16

Favia Garden - Every favia is encusting nicely with weekly growth.

NanoBoxDec-15NanoBoxDec-14

Walt Disney - Is holding color and getting thick.

NanoBoxDec-10

Sunset Monti - The polyps almost take over the base!

Thank you! I am hoping it will start to take off again. I am curious if I give it a little less light but same flow. This frag LOVES the flow.
