Just curious, what do you do for quarantine? I am terrible. I do not. Enjoyed shooting some videos and stills this weekend. The enjoyment I get from this tank is far more than any other tank I have owned. The colors are ~90% accurate that you see in person. This is just before it switches to night, my personal favorite. Growth has been really great in the tank. I have been dosing a bit more Reef Roids and see a huge difference. The NYOS skimmer has been putting in overtime as well. Babies : Dendro : Rainbow Chalice : Already creating a orange rim Say Ahhhh : Meteor Shower Growth : Look at the bottom left attaching to rock. Got Color? Enjoy! -Dave 11 1 Quote Link to comment
DaveFason
Forgot this one from the other night. The pygmy hawkfish only comes out at night and early mornings. I was able to catch him in the action! 7 Quote Link to comment

mitten_reef
Care you share your light settings on this build? Or are you running the 'default' quad in Bluefish? (if I had to guess, that'd be no?) Quote Link to comment

Miday : 70% - Royal Blue 5% - White 70% - Violet 70% - Blue/Cyan 25% - Mint I run a eight hour schedule. 2 Quote Link to comment
charlesgage
I has no mint... mine says white/lime. Should I rewire? Quote Link to comment

Yours has mint mixed in with the white now. Currently I am experimenting with running as you can see minimal white and mostly mint to create a white look. I am not ready to push this to the retail market yet. -Dave 2 Quote Link to comment

I have the stock quad, but am dealing with browning of SPS. Hard to tell if nutrient based or light based. woukd you reccomend turning the lights up or turning them down? Quote Link to comment

Seeing that you can't individually control mint like he can, I'd have my whites at at least 25. if browning, my 2 cents is your'e too low. I'm running a Duo at 78, 30, 90, 78 and color is great on my montis. Quote Link to comment

It is hard to say with browning of SPS. Feedings, lighting, flow, etc can all have some play. I have no idea what you are currently running as well. I would bump the royal and violet up. Adjust the white to your liking. I have monti's ~ 16" away from the light that are growing and have great color. A couple acros near the top. I will see if I can get PAR readings for you guys. -Dave 1 Quote Link to comment

DaveFason
This tank has been an absolute pleasure. While I do have a little bit of a bacteria issue going on it will phase out. The tank is not perfect but allows me to do minimal care with great results. The amount of questions I receive about the tank is blowing my mind. So here are many answers. Light Schedule - I do not touch it. It has not changed from the above. I believe the amount of fiddling and adjustments people make only stress things out. Watch the corals! Feeding Schedule - A ton Two-Three times a day of PE Mysis dry food Teaspoon of Polyp Lab Reef Roids Squirt of Polyp Lab Colors 2-3 times a week of LRS frozen Polyp Booster daily until recently - I ran out! Cleaning : I should clean daily but normally every three days. As you can see in the new FTS, it is not perfect. Glass - Every 3 days. Skimmer - Once a week Carbon - One a month Turkey baster - daily in sump and display Light Height : As of now I am using two old quad bodies to hold the new style Quad up. I am going to hang it however as you can see, it is not. ~5" away from water PAR : These are ruff. I will get a detailed map this weekend. These are taken with the pumps off. 300-375 on the top 200 mid tank 80-110 on the bottom Flow : I like to blast my corals. MP40 - 60% Reef Crest MP10 - 100% Reef Crest Sump Pump - Nuvo16 pump A few things that I also believe that contribute to the corals adjusting quicker, growing quicker and the tank just being healthy are. Keeping my hands out of the tank. My hands MAY touch the water once a month. Keeping the lighting schedule consistent Large fish population & feeding schedule Tons of flow Now for the pictures. As you can see things are growing. I had a few corals sting each other but other than that it is smooth sailing. Pink Chalice : This coral is incredible in person Joe Knows Reef Rainbow : You can see the new growth. UNREAL Chalices : MS : This stuff grows quick and looks great. A little out of focus but you can see the growth. My favorite acans : Top down : A little bit of SPS. It started as a nub : An honest and dirty FTS : Note the custom mounting with two old quad bodies. Enjoy! -Dave 6 Quote Link to comment
DaveFason
After getting back from vacation the tank did great. The tank is on auto drive and will get water change this week. Corals are growing, coloring and looking incredible. Joes rainbow chalice - The rim is mind dumbing Favia - This started to take off this month. Pink Chalice : M. Shower is growing at insane rates. Scans : Sunset : This looked like a turd two months ago. Enjoy! -Dave 7 Quote Link to comment
