Slayer33
So I was at another town last weekend and I stopped into the LFS and my daughter took to a sand sifting starfish. The owner said he'd be a good addition to my tank but after reading some info on the Internet it sounds like this was the worst idea ever.... it will kill my live sand and eventually starve to death. Is this all true?? And if it is I guess I should get rid of it asap..?? Link to comment
reefone
yes its true. imo they shouldn't even be sold in stores. Link to comment
vegasgundog
I was told I could get one to battle my spaghetti worm infestation in my 69g red sea e260 and it would eventually starve to death in my size of tank. Link to comment
Slayer33
Dang.. guess I'll need to call around tomorrow to see which place will take it.. I need to bolster my CUC now.. I have 5 hermit crabs, 1 bumblebee snail and I saw a tiny stomasella snail last night.. I plan on getting some snails.. any recommendations? Also a cleaner shrimp. I read that sand sifting gobies don't do well either in small tanks.. any other fish that sift through the sand? Link to comment
Clown79
No, they don't do good in small tanks. There just isn't enough to sustain them. This is the same with sand sifting gobies. Get nassarius and ceriths for the sand and vacuum it weekly. Trochus for glass and rocks. Link to comment
